Oh.. by the way, the padel box needs to come out on mine to get some bushes replaced so you might as well do the centre seat conversion while your at it....

good effort
How does it feel to drive in the centre?
Cant wait to see you getting in with the roof on
My race car is a nightmare, and at least in that you can just aim for the seat

Yeah, when I get my roof off John I'll do a video of me looking like an idiot trying to get in and out.

They were clearly worried you would run away with it!The championship I was planning on entering has changed the regulations to specifically exclude central driving positions so I’m currently deciding what to do.
You weren't entering F1, were you? Sounds a bit like them...

Yeah, I was a little upset Bob. To be honest I'm fairly determined to convert it back as it will make no difference to the performance of the car.hiscot wrote: You must be gutted dan, I know I would be
The only other issue I have is the roll cage regs state I need a full cage (not a problem, I can sort that) with two door bars either side. I spoke to the championship scrutineer and explained if you fitted two door bars to an Elise cage you wouldn't be able to get in and out but got nowhere so going down the route of trying to get a letter of dispensation from the MSA to run without door bars so I have no problems with scrutineers.
It's bloody hard work this motorsport lark!

Re: A race car is born - With a difference
The MSA decisions depend either on who has PMT at the time, or whether Venus is lined up with Uranus when Saturn is in conjugation with Neptune in the 7th quarter of the Zodiac.

Dan you may not get anywhere regarding the roll bar I expect they are after something looking like this

A driving position 2 inches from the centre line is not a central driving position

Yes but they word it as follows:thinfourth wrote:A driving position 2 inches from the centre line is not a central driving position
"The driver's seat must be wholly located either side of the vehicle centreline"
Although, technically an Elise will never be able to comply with that regulation regardless of RHD, LHD or central seat.
Bob, even that cage only has one door bar per side. There are no cages on the market for the Elise with two door bars per side. Plus, there's no way I am hacking lumps put of the doors to fit door bars like that. I'd rather sell the car than do that.
