Does that make us non represenative as a Group?

Makes us better educated and better informed as a group - hence why we can afford daft cars as play things.

i guess it does. however I'm sure i heard yesterday that the ne of scotland is expected to be a yes overall. thats not how i see it from my wee bubble. there are a very vocal yes minority and a seemingly large, generally silent no majority among my friends, family and acquaintances

ones things for sure, if it is a yes vote I'm voting for salmond in the hope he actually knows what he's doing!

This is all getting a bit serious. Here's a more lighthearted take on things:

Dundee City Centre appears to be a hotbed of YES supporters and campaigners. Yesterday, I passed 2 pop-up shops which had been set up as YES Information Shops, there was another tent/leaflet table in the City Square and there were loads of folk dishing our leaflets all over the place. It certainly wasn't intimidating but did seem fairly well organised.

Facts like that, about democracy, are conveniently whitewashed over for the purposes of the Yes campaign. Salmond has me believing 0% of the electorate vote Tory, 0% wanted a Conservative:LibDem coalition government... "Shhhhh!" said the mob.
I actually sent Salmond an email on that very point. There were another 465,000 odd that voted for the Lib Dems so in total 35% of the Scottish Voters did vote for the current government. This is not much (6%) less than voted Labour in 2010.

Attitudes on here may have shifted since the poll was setup however but given the swing to No on here I guess noit by too much. Hopefully this will be reflected in the actual poll. I'm more confident of the correct No vote now thatI was last week.

I think Dundee is pretty much written off as a majority Yes. Amongst my Facebook friends, many of which are old school mates, I'm definitely in the minority as a No voter, but then I'm also in the minority amongst them as a University graduate, and making a larger success of my life, so far anyway. I may have grown up with a beautiful view overlooking countryside fields and nature, but it was from the top floor of a council flat that was eventually knocked down due to subsidence. :blackeye

A few people I know have been keen to point out to me that I'm obviously a No voter as I have "more to lose."
How do you politely tell someone that if they worked as hard as I have, they'd have more to lose too.

Some great posts, and articles above, I've had a great 3 day rest from Indy Ref press etc as I've had visitors, 2 from England (1 American, 1 English but with close family in Spain), and 1 from the Netherlands, it was interesting to hear their thoughts and opinions.

Their general thoughts, seemed to be:
From the Netherlands, similarities with the Fleming movement and Indy Ref is being reported everywhere, all eyes on Scotland indeed.
From Spain, the chances of them voting for Scottish inclusion in the EU is slim due to the potential for a Catalunia seeking independence soon.
From England, the complete lack of understanding as to why anyone would trust Salmond, and agreement that our current UK government aren't as useful as they could be, and will likely be out soon enough.

You'll be on the fence by now then.

I found this interesting too as it's been in my mind for a while that there couldn't have been so little Tory following in Scotland, so I looked up the figures...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election ... gion/7.stm

It's interesting that:
42% of votes went to Labour - 41 seats.
19% Lib Dem - 11 seats
20% SNP - 6 seats
17% Tory - 1 seat.

and only 64% of people bothered to vote.

So more than a third of Scotland were so bothered about a potential Tory government that they sat down and did nothing, and over a third of those who did vote actually got their party elected, albeit as part of a coalition.

I guess the Tory vote in Scotland is simply more spread around, meaning 10 less seats for a mere 2% less votes overall.

You speak like this is something only the Yes campaign have done. All politicians through history have been selective with the truth to suit their cause. Without going back too far (2005) you'll find Labour got elected with a large majority with only 35.2% of the vote on a 65.1% turnout. By my maths that means only 23% of the electorate voted Labour. Did they then care about the 77% who hadn't voted for them? The same can be said for almost all past elections, if you don't back the winner you'd have been as well not voting. Fact is the Tories got 16.7% of the Scottish vote in the last UK election and 13% in the last Scottish election. Even with the screwed up system we have, you're never going to form a government with those figures.

Agreed.

But with regret, I really don't think it will, or they will :-(

And that's from neither a Yes nor a No perspective. It's just an observation. Well, a speculation.
