111R MIL Lights....?

If the underlying condition doesn't reoccur for some period of time (I seem to remember it's something like either 48 hours or so-many cycles on the ignition switch) then the MIL does go out (though the underlying code should still be recorded, along with snapshot data if your ECU supports that).colin adams wrote:...and the mystery deepens, MIL light went off yesterday afternoon and so far has stayed off...........
I am guessing that the light will come back on again. Has all the hallmarks of an intermittent sensor failure - I had a similar episode on my early S2 (K16) with the cam position sensor - it took a long time before it failed badly enough to be able to track it down.
Cheers,
Robin
not good news
Just spoken with MMC , and after the taking the throttle body to pieces, they are now able to see that it is apparently sticking intermitently! Not sure why but reckon it could be a worn spindle??!!
7 trips to the garage later and still no further on at present. They are trying to sort this out with Lotus, but apparently as the car is just outside of warranty I'm needing a bit of good luck from them!
Just asked what its chances were of managing the track session on Friday to be told, "we suspect you'll have the same problems".
Incidentally, 2yrs and 20k miles is all the engine is warrantied for
Not even vaguely amused at this

Hi Colin
On a plus point though, apparently there are 4 cars with this problem now!
Lotus can't keep ignoring it.
I've done 23k in mine, but some of the other cars haven't even been on track or had any mods!!!
I'll be calling every week till this is resolved, and failing that taking it directly to Lotus. Just in the amount of time i've had to spend trying to sort this its totally unacceptable.
So dissapointed with it as it had been bullet proof till 2 months ago

That's pretty poor by any standards
Surely a bit of goodwill from LOTUS or MMC is in order, afterall they failed to fix it in warranty when you highlighted your problem. Just cos they failed to fix it doesn't mean they are absolved of responsibility, they will have to argue that this is a new fault, not just an ongoing annoyingly intermittant one.
Up until this point they haven't actually solved the problem only masked it for a while. A new TB would be my guess, I would also expect that they would warranty their replacement part for a period too, afterall if it doesn't fix it they should try again!
Stick to your guns and give'm hell!
Good luck
Rich

My arguement with MMC was that it was reproted during the warantee period, they just didn't diagnose it quick enough. If MMC have 4 of them, wonder how many 111R's have this? Sounds like a quiet recall is due. I'm away so won't be at MT, I wish everyone a light free run and hope to see some of the survivors at Brunty's do on the 15th.
Car is now dead!
Engine is rattling and I managed to get to KH....awesome build quality

The engine gets stripped down on Monday![]()
REally asppreciate the offer though
Andy, you said you were out of warranty. if lotus dont fix this as a good will gesture, have you considered the AA parts and Labour warranty??
I towed my car into MMC this morning for them to diagnose and fix. it should be covered by the AA but will know for sure on monday morning.
