Must be close to fitting winters again.
My winters are worn out. Ive been swapping tyres on the same alloys of the last 4 years. Summers have loads of tread left (currently on the car).
Is it ok to keep getting the garage to swap the tyres off of the same rim?

Was thinking steels with winters. downside is rusty steel? Ive a white focus <<
Got a good price for alloys and goodyear winters on the focus from dealer.

a> same rim, new winters, keep swapping
b> steels, new winters, get a jack and storage
c> alloys, new winters, get a jack and storage

decisions!

Change tyres on the rims. Was contemplating separate alloys for the ST, but when I last looked, a spare set was £££££s. Might look again though as it would save a lot of faffing!

Lost one set of rims in the house move and sold one set of BMW rims only to buy another BMW within 2 years so changing on the same rims now!

aye, its alot.
garage says they would do it for £950 all in for 16" ford alloys.
given the tyres are £80 x 4, thats £630 for the alloys; or about £400 more than steels.
tempted...

think the summers could be damaged by swapping over and back for 6 years? done 4, may only keep the car another 2...

I have winter wheels. I have 2 A4's and a yeti so run what was fitted to them in the summer and run 16" on them all in the winter. You should use the smallest tyre the car can take in the winter. As it gives you a more flexible sidewall and if narrower will cut through to the tarmac better. I picked up the 16" wheels from eBay for £50 per set.
