ach, just the usual community chit chatting on here that end up having posts aimed at people. been away and not been exposed to it. I come back and read that it still goes on.
i know everyone has reasons to say things. just, from where I come from, i cant take any of the online chat on here seriously. =)
so it kinda hits me like "errrm, wtf. bleh" when i read posts of people analysing posts of other peoples replying posts to other posts.
its like bad txts gone worse. some people get peeved off and ive seen it destroy other online communities.

i play a game online and the forums there are very personal - but its part of the game really, the characters that we play. something like scottishelises is connected to real life coz of our cars (well, ur cars coz i dont have one atm :()
i guess when someone posts bad news on here and theres frustration etc involved, and then theres businesses involved, and theres folk with couple beers or wine consumed posting tongue in cheek or "post bait" stuff etc - just can turn ways that it wouldnt normally.
not explaining it very well.

ill go, im no good. gimme a female character to play and it means nothing serious and ill post away! ;-)

Kinda understand what you mean and I'm not particularly happy that I've been dragged into all of this just from trying to be helpful but I guess that's the way of the internets!

I know what you mean about it destroying communties and I think its going that way because of a cynical few with a chip on their shoulder.

I guess in the end it'll get to the stage where I'll just stop posting and if anyone needs help they can dig out my number to ask advice if they wish. Shame for it to go that way but that's just the way things are these days I guess. Even Dave Andrews isn't as open and helpful as he used to be due to childish attacks on him on a number of forums. Now that is a great loss to the whole Lotus community but the community brought it upon itself.

Cheers for the explanation anyway.

An update.

Got the car back. Leaking oil from propshafts.

Put it into MMC to get that fixed, also new battery. 300UKP.

They noted one rad fan siezed, one noisy. Wheel bearing noisy.

Put it into bodyshop to get existing crack in front repaired and two new scuffs re-sprayed. No reply from SLS on scuffs after inital dialogue.

Car still not running right, reluctant at idle to pull away, hunting when warmed up. Seems to be using water.

Booked into Dan's - going down on Thursday - days leave used up (and O/T turned down).

So another grand down, still Lotusless - well it's sitting in the garage but it's not being driven and so not being run in.

My time is precious and spare time rare but I had a pass to go to the 'ring this year but that moment has come and gone. No track days, just hassle and nonsense.

Cue more defence of SLS lacking facts but strong on sentiment which vanish like morning mist in the sunlight when I PM them with actual events...

IF your going across the A69, turn off on to the B6318 where it come close to the A69 and follow it to the A68 then take that to Dan's . The slight detour is worth it and quicker than the A69  You will love your Elise again .

What a terrible saga. Hope your car is sorted soon and it hasn't put you off Lotus ownership for good.

I wonder how many people will feel confident taking their cars to SLS after reading this thread....

Your sorry tale of woe just beggars belief, Pete :(

I hope it's finally sorted (with as little further pain as possible) soon.

The word 'unlucky' doesn't seem appropriate Pete. I really hope you get the car back on the road soon. Fingers crossed the problems haven't made you resent the car to the same degree that I did after the ( .. brings out the fingers to count..) 6 months my car was off the road (the last time).

That's no good, sorry to hear of your troubles :( If your heading down the A68/69 watch out for the Speed cameras as the Mrs seems to think there are quite a few down there, hope it all gets sorted for you soon.

An update.

I've been to Dan's.

At the moment my car appears to be running well with very few obvious faults. That seems very conditional but I've been stung by optimism before. The replacement battery may have been responsible for the rough running, the fans although the wrong shape were made to fit, the drive home was more pleasure than chore.

Thanks Dan.
