Anybody got SKY HD???
Anybody got SKY HD???
I have been looking into SKY and HD, with my current phone and Broadband contract ending I thought this would be a good time to take advantage of the free phone and broadband offer.
Having purchased a sony Bravia KDL-40W2000 a few months back I've been itching to get HD, now the opportunity is here.
Does ayone currently have it and how much HD programming do you really watch to justify the extra £10 per month.
ps I primarily want it for the HD footy on Sky Sports.

my flatmate works for sky and as a result I have the full shebang including HD. I have a Sony Bravia 32V2500 (only does 720p and 1080i) but it really looks awesome.
The Movies look the best and the Discovery channel also looks pretty stunning, I have to say in the little sports stuff I've seen on it either isn't broadcast in hi-def or when it is doesn't look as good as I'd expect. Close ups look good but wide shots of people running around on the fields look a little dodgy.
I'd definately recommend it for the extra tenner - how much is the usual works anyway?

I was looking at......
6 mixes
Sky sports
HD Box
2nd Standard Box (multiroom)
Broadband
Telephone
A total of £68 per month including line rental (1 off cost of £199 for the hd box).
Considering BT phone and broadband are approx £33, for an extra £35 I get the benefit of HD, loads of channels and a 2nd box.

Sky HD
Had HD now for about 9 months, got it when it first came out.
At First i was a bit underwhelm by it, Planet Earth was amazing, but the movies, i struggled to see the difference.......
But Football.....on boy.. you will never want to watch it on normal telly again. it is worth the extra 10 a month just for the football. during a match switch from 401 to 408 and back the difference is truly amazing.
Watch Robin hood on HD, maybe a couple of movies (movies are upscaled so the difference is going to be hard to tell until they start shooting the movies with HD Camera)
Nat Geo is awsome, they do live dawn and dusk in africa, the colors are fantastic.
so, in short, get it!!!!!!!

Re: Sky HD
strongly disagree here - Movies are usually shot on film and then mastered so even old school films look better. They're not upscaled, and if you swap between SD and HD channels the difference is usually amazing.Watch Robin hood on HD, maybe a couple of movies (movies are upscaled so the difference is going to be hard to tell until they start shooting the movies with HD Camera)[/img]
