4point harness friendly MOT in glasgow??

Post by dr al » Sat Jan 05, 2008 10:57 pm

Hi, guys.

I need an mot (infact i forgot so it's 2 weeks overdue! - oops!)
the problem is i've fitted Sabelt FIA certified 4 point harnesses since my last mot - no British Standard stamp etc, so technically not MOT friendly, but from reading posts here and on Selc*ck plenty of folk seem to get them through ok.

The bloke i usually use won't do it. - anyone know a harness friendly MOT garage near glasgow??

crazy, isn't it - good enough for the FIA, but not for the DVLA - ah well! - I still prefer my metal lever to a wee red button any day!

A.

East End Tyres in Shettleston or First Stop in Rutherglen will both do it for you. The guys in East End tyres take good care of your car.

I have Willlans harnesses and Car Care in Thornliebank said there were no issues with them , I specifically asked and he said there were no issues and if it was not right he would not pass it . It failed on emissions last year .

For MOT's any seatbelt/harness has to be single handed operation and most harnesses require you to use both hands!! like you say bloody stupid as a harness is much safer in the event of a crash.

Mine passed, the stations I have asked has always said as long as they are secure and work, they will pass them. Mine are rotary action jobbies too.
