Insurance repairs question

Post by alcabs » Fri Mar 07, 2008 11:18 am

Guys,

This morning on the drive to work some guy in a Transit pickup truck pulled into the right-hand lane just as I was passing him ("didn't see you mate, sorry") and managed to catch the rear passenger side wheel and wheelarch with his front wheel resulting in a nice set of big gouges out of the wheel spokes and some damage to the rear clam wheelarch - chipped badly at the front with scuffs over the brow of the arch. po'ed

Now i have been on the phone to my insurer (More Than) and thier recommended repairer is some firm in Forfar called R D Wilson & Son who are apparently going to give me a call and arrange to pick up the car. What concerns me is that, admittedly the damage is fairly minor but I suspect that this will be the typical car repair bodyshop who have no experience of fibreglass and will just bodge a repair. I guess i probably need a suspension check as well as there was a bit of a bang when he drove into me. Do you guys think I should be insisting that the insurance company uses an approved Lotus Bodyshop??? Which I guess means Murray Motor in Edinburgh who dont get much praise on here!

Any comments or opinions please?

Cheers!
