I too have been looking at one of these and it's on my winter shopping list. as far as I am aware it does nothing to your power just sounds better/louder

thanks nizzy, improving sound not the reason for me really , looking for a product that aint a full induction kit that is a better solution than the standard, to help engine breath better and / or filter better

Only real benefit of the ITG (or any panel filter) that that it's reusable and washable. Might let it breathe easier, but not so's you'd notice (will pick up more power when it's cold & wet, I'd wager)

how long are you going to keep the car ? of you get a panel filter you will never have to replace it unlike a OEM paper filter.dirka-dirka wrote:good looking out shug/nizzy,youve saved me an un-nessesary £35.
I am still going to get one

rob bells excellent mgf site did some real back to back rolling road tests

he concludes only a few bhp gain but they remove the torque dip and city driving / pickup is loads better
note the vvc engine got differant gains/ losses
the full tests of all filters is on his site

Re: ITG fliter
Our resident boffin Robin recommends a drop-in filter like the ITG/K&N over any of the aftermarket induction kits. general consensus is that these 'upgrades' make naff all difference in the real world - it'll take a fair old hile in hp for your bum-dyno to notice the difference. However, these things work well in conjunction with a better manifold, better exhaust, head work etc.
I've got the ITG in mine if it makes any difference. Modify the air pipe serving the filter box to a wider diameter hose to increase cold-air flow to your engine

Interesting effect on the classic torque-dip there, made nowt difference to mine.
I have the K&N panel and even if it doesn't do a massive amount for performance / driveability, it saves money on paper filters every year
Fundamentally though it's easier to blow through the K&N than a paper filter, "go figure" as they say across the pond...

Re: ITG fliter
problem for the std filter is the air supply is too small , rover found this when they devoloped the 160 (if you cannot get air in / or out fast enough performance will suffer ) so they changed the exhaust manifold for out but also the air box for incampbell wrote:Interesting effect on the classic torque-dip there, made nowt difference to mine.

they increased its size made the inlet larger and altered the flow patten as shown above

Re: ITG fliter
Not sure what you mean by that mate, but there will be a pipr from the side pod to the filter box. Widen the inlet hose on the filter box, and fit a larger diameter pipe. Alternatively, get an MGTF box like Hiscot has said - do they fit in the elise engine bay ok?dirka-dirka wrote:greg.... do you mean de-snorkel ?
