Throttle/Ignition Fault

Post by Tom » Mon Jul 07, 2008 12:54 pm

Yesterday on the way back from o6o7o8 a fault developed on the car. Stopped for fuel, and when I turned the key off, the engine continued to run for a second or two and then died. Seems to do it every time I switch it off now. Then when back on the road the throttle seemed to be slower to die down than normal when changing gear... :?

This sound familiar to anyone?? :? :?

Don't the cover diesling until next year? :D

Try a compression test on the engine - Running on can be a symptom of low compression - of course if it is low compression you still need to find out why.

Other causes could be an ecu fault not killing the fueling.....

can be something as simple as a sticking valve that isn't closing as quick as it should causing a hotspot which is allowing for detonation.

more likely to be an ECU related issue.

unplug it - leave it beside the freezer at a 45 deg angle for 1hr 34mins (no more/no less) before re-installing it and all should be good.

After all they things all work on the same basic principle of suck, squash, bang, blow. :D

FFS - Student's they don't want to learn anything for themselves.

Suck - Squash - Bang - Blow - much easier to remember than Induction-Compression-Ignition-Exhaust.

Get the basics right and everything will follow

Porker does that. But not for a little while it just keeps on runnign with the ignition off.
That is related to the battery light allowing enough current back from the alt to keep the ignition circuit alive. the battery is disconnected form the circuit but the alt keeps everything running...

2 fixes.

I. a diode in the alt light circuit (Boring)
2. An aircraft style covered kill switch on the dash...
