Donkey Punch Tour 08 - Walshy Accom

Post by Andy G » Thu Jul 24, 2008 1:08 pm

Posted in general and trackdays so everyone is invited :thumbsup

Fresh from a week of being re-energised for all things car based, and with the French Frolic looming, I felt the urge to plan one more bit of madness, well some would say lunacy, before another awesome track season draws to a close.

The plan is simple.

Dates you will require to be free on are from the 23rd of October, pm for the journey south. Then write off the friday (24th), the weekend (25th and 26th), not too mention Monday and Tuesday (27th and 28th) before getting home Tuesday night.

Now there are plans of madness, and plans of lunacy, and i believe this is the latter. Let me explain why;

Thursday - depart for North Weald
Friday - Walshy Day followed by ferry crossing to France
Saturday - Folembray, Northern France, with LOT £89
Sunday - Abbeville, Northern East France, with LOT £89 followed by ferry back to Englandshire
Monday - Snetterton, Englandshire (well Norfolk) £99
Tuesday - Oulton Park, Englandshire £99

The planning began yesterday and after some chat with the usual suspects we currently have an Elite team of the following confirmed;

Full jaunt inc Walshy;

1. Andy G
2. Greg R & trackus piggus
3. Von Iddon and his wonderful flying 135r
4. Scotty "Rock and Roll" C

Englandshire jaunt;
1. Mass

S-hug and Mcape (they know they're coming really!) have expressed a strong interest also.

Apologies for not getting in touch with more of you (fellow track sluts especially :mrgreen: ), but i am mega busy at the moment, so have been trying to get this sorted asap and get it on the forum!

Up for making this another SE epic, so if you are interested in all of/part of/none of, then let me know.

Oh, and as for the title, it had to be of such ilk to be the evolution of the weekend of Rough Love from 2 years ago.

What an end to 2008's track outings!

Rock on people :thumbsup

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I'm tempted, possibly barring the Walshy day on costs grounds (although I bloody need it)

I'm always happy to do a walshy day, but if you get more than 4 people wanting to do it, I'll happily step aside and let someone else take my place - I'm so stuck in my ways that practice is pointless though amusing.

Cheers,
Robin

Would definately be up for doing at least some of this. Will check with Carol and see if I can negotiate a pass.

Cheers, Peter

I had to defer until I know roughly where I'll be around then.
I'm back in Aberdeen/Oslo from next week up until FF, :D uncertain after that. :?

If there are enough takers maybe Walshy training for some and 'activity day' for the others. :thumbsup

Funnily enough I was looking at the LOT Oulton trackday just the other day as it's very cheap and I really enjoyed the track. 8) :thumbsup

I would maybe miss the Walshy day and Snetterton (purely on cost grounds) although I may change my mind once I've done Snetterton on 12th October. :?

What ferry/tunnel route would we be taking? Deciding whether to be ghay and trailor the car. (would mean plenty room for spare lotus balljoints and driveshafts though :wink: :lol: )

p.s. there's still 2 months of trackdays left after October. :lol:

Not sure yet tbh. Chief route planner Iddon will no doubt have a cunning plan though :thumbsup

Rossini - If I decide to pull the trigger on this, you're welcome to the pax and a share of the driving (if you think you can handle the raw power of the Shugmobile ;))

Stick me down for the Englanshire jaunt, still in the midst of house hunting so not wanting to be too prolific with the spending.
Any ideas on accommodation for Sun and Monday nights? I'll probably meet you at the digs after you arrive back off the ferry on Sun.

And when is the latest you think we will need to book Engerlandshire tracks on LoT?

Full jaunt inc Walshy;

1. Andy G
2. Greg R & trackus piggus
3. Von Iddon and his wonderful flying 135r
4. Scotty "Rock and Roll" C

Englandshire jaunt;
1. Mass
2. Kenny

edit: ps. top work :thumbsup

If i can get a list of who wants to do what, I'll speak to Paul and see what the chat is :thumbsup

I'm sure he'll also be able to help with places to stay etc - he's a top bloke, and usually plans the FF escapades, so should have it covered :thumbsup

Cool...Cheers for the offer of co-driving the Shugmobile...I'm quite partial to a bit of Raw Power... :cheers

(Wasn't 'Raw Power' a TV show from the late 80's / early 90's, which showcased heavy metal videos...Or did I just imagine that?! :wink: )

Been chatting to von Iddon too, so looks like a goer... :thumbsup

Cheers,

Ross.
