Back into Lotus ownership

Post by DavieK » Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:46 am

Well after a long search and lots of will we won't we (well I did lots of this to the point that the boss put the deposit down on the car while I was offshore) we are finally the owners of a lotus again. The last one we owned was a Type 72 that we sold to my mate that sometimes posts on here under the guise of LB, we had to sell it at the point when the boss was pregnant and couldn’t get in and out of it very easily. So nearly 3 years down the line we have bought ourselves a 2000 Sport 160.
As I mentioned above I’d been humming and haying for a long time over buying another Elise and at this one for almost 2 weeks during which time my brother in law who stays in Reading looked the car over and had a test drive as it was as close as damn it London. One day during a call home the lovely Mrs. K told me she had put down the deposit on the car :love. We were thinking of us both flying down and then driving it back home together but she wasn’t sure about being so far away from the youngest so it was up to me to drive the car back to Ellon on my tod.
I took the Sat Nav with me as I wasn’t sure of the roads around Birmingham but instead of guiding me around the place it started to guide me into Birmingham  it was promptly ignored and only used as a guide as to how many miles I had until I was home. The journey was fine but boring the only nasty bit was at Glasgow where I hit the beginnings of rush hour while it was getting dark and the rain started up which didn’t make for an easy time and it rained from there until I pulled up outside the house!

I saw many things on the way home but not one lotus of any kind which I was surprised about and I have to say that everybody was very polite and easy going on the drive ....... until I hit the last roundabout coming out of Dundee and from there until the Bridge of Don I was surrounded by muppets and idiots.

Not had much of a chance to drive it since we got it home due to other commitments etc. but when we have been out for a spin it’s been fun :) and the boss loves it.

Only got a picture from the advert as I want the car cleaned up (hopefully in the next day or 2) before I take any photo's
