MK1 MX-5 BBR Turbo - excellent example

Post by L111CHT » Sun Jun 28, 2009 6:13 pm

Something a little bit different :)

Selling my 1992 'K' 1.6i BBR turbo (UK model) with 126,000 miles.

Car was dynoed at 160 bhp/160lb ft at Wallace Performance in Aberdeen.

A small fortune has been spent on this car over the last three years. I also have a wallet stacked full of old bills, service receipts and MoTs (I think I even have the original bill of sale and BBR warranty document from the first owner). Freshly MoT'd this month with no advisories.

Car benefits from:

* Rebuilt T25 Turbo (carried out last year by Cats, Carbs and Turbos UK)
* ILM twin exit S/S exhaust and cat by-pass pipe
* Factory fitted Torsen LSD
* Bailey DV
* Boost valve
* Full set of silicon hoses
* Dual feed fuel rail and uprated Walbro 255lph fuel pump (new fuel filter fitted as well)
* K+N type mesh air filter
* Magnecor KV85 high performance leads and NGK BKR7-E plugs
* Toofast underbody brace bar and stainless steel turret mounted brace
* KYB AGX adjustable shocks and Flyin Miata II springs (fitted '07)
* Upgraded to 1.8 brakes all round with Axxis Ultimate pads and Goodrich braided hoses
* Rota RB 15x8 et 35 alloys wheels and 205 50-15 Toyos Proxes (approx 1.5k miles on them)
* OEM front spoiler and Track Dog Racing splitter
* TSI intakes (original sidelights available)
* S/S front mesh grille and tow eye
* Rear boot spoiler
* S/S style bar
* Momo Power steering wheel
* Electric windows
* Pillar mounted boost gauge
* Recent new hood (plastic window type)
* Custom built speaker box, amp and MP3 compliant head unit
* Key operated central locking with alarm and immobiliser

I've probably forgotten stuff but I'll update as I remember :D

Overall a very nice straight rust free example of an insurable turbo charged MK1 ;) I'd rate the car as ''very good'' condition, there are a couple of minor bodywork blemishes, stone chips etc but for a 17-year-old car it looks amazing. Had one sill welded in the usual place last year for MoT and the paintwork could do with a wee tidy up. I've left this as I was going to colour co-ordinate the sills but will leave that up to the next owner. One of the front wheels has a tiny bit of minor kerbing but you've got to look close to see it. The timing belt was done for the 2007 MoT. The electric windows are a bit sticky but that's just down to lack of use (car has been used as a summer car only last three years and is garaged throughout the winter). Since putting her back on the road this summer I've noticed an intermittent hesitation at around 3k rpm so could probably do with a decent tune. The clutch bearing sounds a bit grumbly too but I've a new spare in the garage. I always put super unleaded in the car and it's had a fresh oil/filter change. Car is currently running on the factory BBR ECU but with the upgraded fuelling system and boost valve in place all you'd need to add is a standalone ECU and some bigger injectors to start looking for more power.

Will be sad to see her go but just recently got married and being told there are ''other priorities'' now :roll: :shock: :lol:

I'm asking £3500 for the car including the ''K 5 BBR'' reg plate or £3250 without.
