LOW LEVEL SCOTLAND

Post by AVIATOR » Mon Jul 06, 2009 5:57 pm

Evening all,

So low level I hear you ask.....Well, a fast jet at 250ft, 450 knotts and in sight for a mere couple of seconds doesn't usually bode well for photography especially if the weather is less than ideal...However more often than not if the sun is shining and its a weekday, I venture off to a hillside/mountain or Glen either in the Highlands, the Borders or the Lakes. But for this post I will keep it all Scottish. Have been doing this low level lark for such a long time now and rarely venture outside Scotland to do so! Half the fun is working out new locations and speaking with the crews to pull of the shot. The hard part is walking up to these locations - A sweat does more often than not break out. I am looking forward to driving their in style in the not too distant future - especially the road down to St. Marys Loch - I know it like the back of my hand!

So after five years you can imagine I have a fair amount of pictures....Things are alot quieter than even a couple of years ago and I have spent some marvelous days with great passes and of course much quieter days with only my own company and a few sheep :idea: ....Either way its worthwhile just waiting to capture that perfect moment, if not only for the exercise.

Anyway, in no particular order from various locations around the country;

Finally the tragic events of last Thursday at Rest and be Thankful along the A83 are thank-fully not so common. Its hard to express words losing some local aviators, from a local squadron and base - Died doing what they loved most. GOD SPEED TO YOU BOTH.

Absolutely brilliant photos Andy, probably the best aviation shots that I have ever seen.

Your dedication to getting them is in a different league as well, its hard to tell where some of them could have been shot from. Hopefully they are used by magazines etc as well as for your own satisfaction?

Thank you thank you thank you.

I've bookmarked this post and the other one. Simply amazing! Never seen a collection like it. You really should do a book (I can think of about 10 people I'd buy it for) or a website or something...
