Sooty Tips.

Post by Callummarshall » Sat Mar 07, 2015 8:31 pm

Evening folks!

I washed the lotus this afternoon and noticed the tips were awfa sooty, they were polished and sealed over winter. The car has been sat for three months or so, just being allowed to run up to temp on idle to keep the battery charged. The car was pretty spotless last weekend before I took it out and has done 250 miles since.

Is this normal? Does it indicate running rich/lean?

Sounds like a stupid question but up till now I've only owned oil burners with hidden tips!

Thanks
Callum

You need to drive it more.

Joking apart, idling from cold involves running rich. But one of the Techs will be along shortly to explain.
