sputtering evora

took my evora for a blast ..bounced of the limiter in 2nd. the car started stuttering in third and then sorted itself out. pulls fine in all gears but sputters at idle after a cold start up. car had been parked for a bit before the incident and was low on fuel. any ideas guys?

What fuel is in it? Mine didn't like the Shell V Power and would run rough when cold with it.

When I tried the v power it didn't start well and coughed and spluttered a bit when cold.
Also had the same problem the one time I put Morrisons fuel in it.
It ran great on the Tesco 99 though.

u think i could have damaged anything bouncing off the limiter? wasnt even running in sport mode:-(

You'd only damage something of you hit the limiter on a downchange and properly over revved it. Hitting the limiter on the way up isn't an issue

Unless the engine is stone cold.... That wouldn't be very nice.

I was in a car with a guy once who whilst starting from cold brought the clutch up as it was cranking... It caught and then he redlined it through the gears! I nearly cried.

Will watch this with interest, my car has kangaroo petrol when the weather is warm and it starts from cold. Only after its had a short run to work in the morning then sits all day. Does not matter what fuel and is fine after a Italian tune up.

Mine behaves perfectly ( crosses everything

) but still watching with interest.
I have only ever used standard unleaded after reading of NA cars having uneven running with higher octanes.

I tip in the cheapest supermarket fuel I can find. So far with fine results. Might treat it to something nicer during Frolic.

Unless you are frequently hitting the redline under full throttle the notional power you might lose from running on 95 is irrelevant.

Let's say the engine can make 300BHP on 99RON but "only" 270 on 95RON. You're only going to notice the fact that you're running on 95RON if you change up at the redline under full throttle; if you change up at 80% of the red line then you're only using 240BHP anyway and that is available from either fuel type (though you might need to rev it to 85% of the red line to get it on 95RON).

99RON is a waste of time if you drive your car on the road (unless you car won't work on 95RON).
