Purchased Rain-x rain repellent and anti-fog stuff a couple of weeks ago. The anti-fog seems to go on okay, although I'm not convinced it makes a huge difference. However, the rain repellent stuff comes out really streaky.

Any ideas? Am I putting too much on? Do I need to do a small bit at a time?

I've always used Autoglym's car glass polish . . . should I ditch that or does anyone know if I can still use it before the rain-x stuff?

Any help much appreciated!

sounds like you either didnt clean the screen properly first or yuo aint putting on enough..

Used it loads on my mini and it worked a treat. Havnt got round to trying it on "Vicky" yet

(OK so Ive got a name for my car.. its not illegal or anything even if it is a bit strange)

I think rain X is great stuff, but have been told never to put in on the windscreen. The wipers smear it about, and after a few weeks it needs done again,.. and so on for ever after.

I have also been told it will never totally come off

.. hence don't put it on the windscreen, unless you are happy to re-do it every couple of weeks.

I have used it loads.
I would reccommend that you think about the kind of drivng that you are doing though.
All of the above comments are valid.
It works superblyon the motorway BUT not so good in town / at slow speeds / or with drizzle (there is not enough mass in the droplet).
It does need re doing but this is not due to the time it has been on but due to the windscreen wiper use.

If you are going fast a lot ie motorways or clear roads then use it and try to avoid dusing your wipers.

if you will be going slow and need to use your wipers then it's not so good as Dom says. the wipers end up chasing the water about a bit like mercury without actually achieving the squeegee action.

What i would say is that it does come off eventually and i woould imaginr that if you were to clean the screen with an abrasive type glass cleaner ir autoglym rather than nilglass type then this should take it off.

It works great if you can not use your wipers.

My alternator went at the Ring, so could not use any electrics on the way home in convoy. Needless to say it rained, but we put RainX on, and I could see with no problems.

this might sound 'mmmm...ook' but I use turtle wax shampoo on the previous decent cars ive had and frequent washes makes the windscreen just as anti wet as rain x IMHO. In the aero i never really used wipers unless mental weather.

oh, found out how amazing the wiper is on the S1 ...whats the point..why not just s**e on the screen and rub it about.......does the BOSCH one really work better?

Been meaning to do that mod for some ... years.

Rain X rocks, no rear wipe on the bmw and rainx seems to be the way fwd on it.

I use RainX, then you don't need wipers above 30 for about a month
