Anyone want a broken Volvo?

Post by kenny » Mon Aug 06, 2007 8:17 pm

A few of you, ie regulars at teh Domsport facility, will have met a work colleague of mine, Big Crazy Phil the Czech.

Anyway, BCPtC had his bird visiting for the weekend and asked my advice for a weekend touring in Scotland. Naturally I sent him up the west coast, Inveraray>Oban> Ft Bill>Applecross>Torridon> Ullapool>Durness>Wick>Inverness. The weather was good and by all accounts he was mightily impressed with the scenerey and the roads.

900 miles completed without hazard. One mile from home has was rubbernecking a crash on the M8 when he failed to notice the traffic stationary in front and the inevitable happened.

He is only third party as the insurers were quoting silly money to give fully comp to Eastern European slave labour, a shame as he is probably the only one who has actually bothered getting insurance, or a licence and MOT for that matter.

The Volvo isnt worth him fixing it, so it anyone knows someone who knows someone who might want it give me a nudge, apart from the damage its been well looked after and runs ok.

Posted here as its not really a for sale thread, if no one wants it BCPtC would appreciate any advice as to what to do with it. Still has almost 12 months MOT and at least 5 month Tax.

Ta.

 @ BCPtC
Should have sent him to the nearest travelodge and told him not to leave for 24hours :sheeplove

Surely eBay / breakers would have that fixed for a couple of hundred shillings?

Two headlights, a bonnet, one big sledgehammer (i can happily supply the hammer) and a roll of gaffer tape will have this back on the road in no time - IIRC the radiators are pretty far back on them? If he's really bothered, a £2.99 can of halfrauds volvo white for the replacement bonnet will even have it all looking the part.

A mate of mine who now lives down south has had one car written off and another damaged by Eastern Europeans on the wrong side of the road, it didn't help that the first, a Pole, was pished.

Sorry to see that. Pass on my regards to phil.

As woody says, should be easy enough to fix?

Breakers would prob have bonnet in correct colour, with a little searchin on the www.

Even if the rad is dead, replacements will not be too expensive.

Live without aircon...

German Swedish French (parts suppliers) or Euro-car-parts would prob do headlights & radiator at reasonable price.

Or, try LSUK fo headlights, and East End Radiators (for radiator  )

Or, ebay / breakers (loads list cars on web) for all parts.

Would be a shame to bin it, after Phil's efforts on it.

Its as much a time thing as cost, said to him to try and get cheap parts but I think he would rather get rid and save himself the hassle.
