no probs Robin, your always offering me your car, it was about time i got to return the favour.

The 330D would be awesome out of the old hairpin up to macleans, all that lovely torque. And i'm sure you could outbrake Tut under the yellows up there aswell

Sanjoy, it is the full day, open pitlane, for 150 quid. Its a total bargain. If i were off, i'd be booked on. Get it sorted. :thumbsup

Campbell

Sorry that I had to shoot off on the Moors, but I had a call from Verian saying that the police were coming around in the evening to interview Ian, and I needed to be there. I waited after overtaking the silver car, but the Elan looked as if he was not going to pass anything, so I had to take off.

However thanks for introducing me to that fantastic road, had a superb run down to the main road with hardly any cars on it. After two days practice on the Track, everything just flowed. Must be a nightmare though with the double lines when it gets busy.

Then met up with four bikers on the A68, but the less said about that the better. Needed sun tan cream on my face when I got home.

Good to meet Alistair again, even better that he is joining the Honda club.

No problem, Tut...you know I just always get anxious when you head off in front, as (sometimes) you are not quite sure of the route and in this case we really were in bandit territory before managing to rejoin the A68! Hope the "interview" went OK.

The Elan actually did a fine job of passing things eventually, however he's not used to the sheer ability of an Elise and I guess we have to remember that not all Lotuses are made the same ;-) His biggest problem was actually brakes. An upgrade is on the cards I believe :-)

As for my brakes...well despite their good thrashing at Donnie, they were still clearly more capable than the Elan's! I need some fresh fluid though and the pads can't have long to go now I fear. Tyres have actually held up remarkably well though.

When I get time I'll stick up a review thread for the weekend I think. Lots to chat about!

Yep full marks to Scotty, what a hero! Really wish we could have watched too.

Andy, really enjoyed your company over the weekend, you missed a cracker of a road on the way home though - for future ref, it's the B-road from Helmsley near Pickering (Yorks) up to Stokesley...known to the bikers as the "Stokesley TT road"...for reasons you'll understand when you eventually drive it ;-)

That Isuzu was quite something, must remember to include in my writeup!

Great to see everyone, and meet some new faces - Special thanks to Campbell & tut for letting me borrow their cars, so that I could get the chance to drive on track at the LOT thing... :thumbsup

Some pics here: http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =9&t=20261

(Donington is pretty rubbish to take pics at, without a huge lens / trackside pass... The infield was closed, and the outfield has a 10ft high mesh fence all the way around... )

Cheers,

Ross.

.....and the brake upgrade order has been placed already! 4 pot Hi-Specs on the front, and 2 pot Hi-specs on the rear, both with increased disc size and some greenstuff pads 8) . Apologies if I was a little off the pace, but the car is 14 years old and in need of some TLC in the braking and suspension department. Whilst I wait on the new brakes arriving I'll be sure to get it booked into CLCM to sort out the suspension. My rubbish overtaking skills aside, it was a real pleasure to be invited to join you guys on the road back up to Edinburgh and I was introduced to some really nice roads in the process.

Hi Alan and welcome along!

If you plan any significant changes to suspension, like dampers or ride height etc, then be sure to do those before booking into Willie for the geo. Although you probably knew that already ;-)

I never mentioned before, but there is an incredible irony in our meeting you at the Services...9 years ago, when the SE masseev first descended upon the Donnie Show, our own Ross Taylor had just hooked up with us in...guess what...his mid-blue metallic Elan! He ran gamely with us up the road (on this occasion the route from hell over the Peak District) and he was so tired from his epic clubbing night out in Notts the night before that I ended up driving his car most of the way home while he paxed with my then gf (now wife) Lisa - happy days.

Keep us posted on the brake upgrade, and don't be afraid to use the Technical subforum here to pose any questions your Elan forum buddies may struggle with...there is quite a font of (mostly useful) knowledge on here, from all marques of cars in fact.

cheers

Campbell
