Help, Need Throttle Cable ASAP
Re: Help, Need Throttle Cable ASAP
The cable wasn't adjusted correctly either, full throtlle was a fair bit shy of the pedal stop. Which means your cable and throttle bodies are taking a beating.

I didn't get a cable but did come up with a fix. The cable snapped at the pedal end so plenty of inner cable to use, all i had to do was make a stop up. I drilled a thru hole in a thread insert, passed the cable through and clamped it together with a bolt. Just back from a drive and everything seems to be ok.
Cheez is on the case for a new throttle cable though, just incase. Sadly i have to work tomorrow, so can't arrange it myself.
So here's what actual happened.....
I took Chris (cheez) out a run in the car to make sure everything was ok as i'd just fitted a new catch tank. We were about 5 miles from the house when the cable snapped, i pulled the broken cable through and handed it to Chris in the passengers seat. He worked the throttle and did everything else. All was going well until Chris was a bit eager on the throttle coming out a wet right hand corner. The tail slide out but he was wise/scared and kept his arm in for me to turn into it. Basically, a perfect drift with chris working the throttle and me working the steering.
Thanks for the help.

We were away camping, i'm all for wearing as little as possible but the weather was just too un predictable. Glad the screen was on, as it p*ssed down on the way home. We had to put the roof up, quite an exercise getting in but really enjoyed the drive.Mr Momo wrote:Clutch cable was just changed in April

P.S It's TOOOOO low, cracked the sump 30 miles outside of Aberdeen. I had to keep the car at sensible speeds to prevent it bottoming out. Every bump we went over was followed by a metallic scrap/clunk, best for my sphincter to raise it up. Lets hope it doesn't effect the way it's handling.

Then I have to question the suspension especially after your comments at KH. Maybe it is getting soft? I never experienced hitting the sump on country roads. I do remember it's had a couple of whacks though.Gourlay83 wrote:We were away camping, i'm all for wearing as little as possible but the weather was just too un predictable. If I was nipping on, it would last 5 mins on a country road and as you say it was bottoming out at the dip before the chicane.Gareth wrote:Then I have to question the suspension especially after your comments at KH. So you two either drive like fairies or the suspension has been lowered.

Re: Help, Need Throttle Cable ASAP
I was behind Alan part of the time, and even on the flat it looked as if the sump was barely clearing the road.
