On track there is no question that the extra power and gearing advantages shine - I am not putting it down in that respect.
The OP suggested he wanted more overtaking oomph, and I think if you do the sums, the additional horse power (and small addition in weight) don't make more than 1s difference in a sub-60mph overtake. Am I wrong?
Given that 1s ain't that long, and given that you aren't Tut (whose standard safety margin is -0.5s
Not many I suspect.
BTW, Malcolm overtook a 911 on the road in a Punto IIRC - if you're on it in the corners, you can slingshot by a lot of traffic without very much power at all
As to making you slower, it depends on how you drive - if you tend to overbrake into the corner, then floor it to "make up" for too much braking, the car will be more forgiving of this with less power, especially on S2 standard front section tyres.
Driven properly, there is no question that the Honda powered S2 is going to be faster on track than the S2 111s.
Cheers,
Robin

When I said more power for overtakes , I just feel it needs a bit more grunt. I try not to do any dodgy overtakes with oncoming cars
.
I am glad I posted now as so many more points than I had thought about have come up .
I would like an Exige S but I really like my Elise , its my baby I would find it hard to sell

for me, i wanted something that would be more reliable, quicker, and more involving to drive. Arguably, my repair costs have been much less than my HGF prone K series ( Albeit a tuned porous one). It is definately quicker. It is a hell of a lot more fun to drive, there are sooo many corners that were flat in a 120bhp or 160bhp car that i need to balance the throttle with which i think is what its all about.
Basically, everyones different, but if you want one, do your research and get it. Me personally, i wouldnt want to be one of those "all the gear, no idea" types, so i made sure i could drive a bit before i did it
P.S upgrading for me was a no no, coz the S2 exige was no faster than my 160bhp S1.
