Cracking read Steve! Congrats on the new car. Think I spoke to you at knock hill not long after I got mine...which may have been the one in the showroom you nearly ended ups with, personally I'm glad you decided to wait!

Wish you all the best with the car :cheers

Cracking read....I'll 2nd your thoughts regarding the Borders for driving roads,I'm often down there with work.......getting paid to enjoy the scenery :D
Will never be as quiet/enjoyable as the road north from Ullapool but more places to stay, eat, etc in the Borders......enough of my rambling....chuffed you're enjoying(under-statement or what) the new car and I'm sure it'll get used to the full, camping included

Great write up Steve, your enthusiasm really comes through in the post.
Sounds like a well planned pick up (Campbell levels of organisation !) and trip home but then I guess you had a long time to plan it and distract you from the wait.
Enjoy it, is the boot any bigger for camping trips, you might find you end up being the passenger to get to the campsite sitting on the camping chairs, sleeping bags etc etc ? Mind you worth it to get an Exige and in yellow. :thumbsup

As Jim says there are some good roads in a band right across south of Edinburgh /Glasgow from Borders, Peebles, Dalveen Pass, Douglas across to Galloway Forest worth a drive sometime.

Enjoy your midlife crisis, you two :-)

Must see if I can dig out my Hethel visit and Day 1 Elise ownership posts from the old SE list. You've brought back some great memories, Steve, in the process of creating your own.

Enjoy.
campbell wrote:Mid life crisis alert :-)

Totally awesome. Is that a factory pickup?

Stylish.
Campbell, I let you off with the first comment, but not letting the second one go. Do I look like I am having a crisis??? Because if I do, well then I cannot wait until it's over and I feel even better than I do just now.

Enjoy your Evora

Steve. (Straggling at the back and having a crisis) :cheers

Ps. Hurry up with your Hethel visit and S1ownership report. Looking forward to reading about them. :popcorn

Must also be one of the longest posts we have had, would take a lot of putting together.

Thanks Tut, but I had to look up the definition of raconteur though.

KH at the weekend????

I was planning coming to meet you all at Asda, drive down and get a few pax laps and enjoy the craic, then have a blast back over Glenshee or the Cairn at first, so I never booked the trackday when released. The car will be getting its first service on Friday and I thought that I might have needed more time to get used to the car, but all seems good on that front. The weather was not looking too great for KH the last time I looked, but will check again nearer the time. No point coming down to stand in the garages when it's pouring down. Hopefully manage the next one though if the weather looks very wet.

anthonyyule wrote:Steve - are you still looking for a bag to hold the hardtop in? - sorry mate - I completely forgot about it. I still have mine sitting in the loft if you need one.

Fantastic write up - glorious car in the absolute best colour. I guess it was my Exige which you saw at MMC and then my Evora S in yellow that helped you finally make the best colour choice in history?

Great stuff - looking forward to seeing it in the flesh, although it will probably trawl up some old memories for me. Are you going to take it to Speedfest then?? :popcorn
Tony, I have a bag which I found in my loft, which I had totally forgotten about, but thanks anyway. It was not your Exige that I saw in the showroom, it was Simons Red Coupe that Benny had for a while and it was the Starlight Black Roadster which was in the showroom which was reserved for us at the time. It was your Evora S that was in the showroom when we placed our order though and I liked the mettalic like speckles throughout the paint which glittered with the light. Some Polished Bliss products will bring out the 'pop effect' very nicely.

Not sure about Speedfest, as even though I like seeing and hearing the cars on the oval circuit, I prefer to warm-up my car before giving it the beans and not just sitting waiting on the entrance road or a few hundred metre drive first. If you want something for the static displays though then send me a PM to discuss. I have seen a few spectacular crashes into the haybales, brakes failing and clutches getting burnt out in some way or the other and I would never live it down if I binned it in front of my mates. I don't mean to sound too negative as I am pleased that you have asked and I would not want to take up the space of something exotic or unique.

There are a few in Aberdeen now though. Three White(one a Cup), two Laser Blue, One Chrome Orange(another one on its way), one black(Motorsports Black too).

These are only the ones that I know about though.

Hello Simon, It was your Red one that I really liked, but it was the Laser Blue Elise S which your mate/family bought at around the same time when I was looking to upgrade to the Elise S that was on the radar at the time. It was the black Roadster that was reserved to us later in July which I think is now back up for sale again at MMC.

I'm sticking with the nostalgia version, Steve. To make sure I don't forget my roots!

Hethel visit predates even the SE1 mailing list (!).

Found my day 1 report on SE1 but didn't think it worthy standing next to yours :-(

Midlife crisis stuff all tongue in cheek, to be clear?
