Mr and Mrs Ford.

You saying Andy is old? :damnfunny He's 3 months younger than me

No - the opposite - though I may have worded it badly

Anyone from 20's to 70's looks fine getting in and out of a 911. A Lambo? No. I think Mr Clarkson has just invested in a Gallardo Spyder if I'm not mistaken - should've stuck with his - albeit constantly broken - GT40.

Hope that Clar(kson)ifies things :D

Andy - the blue one - it's

I'd struggle to find a car I want more right now.... Got to be the best looking "normal" car on the market right now?

Lambo and Scud are both must have cars however.

It's gorgeous - but can't help feel it's spoiled by the rear tail lights and the bonnet vents. Aston Martin says enough (unless I'm missing something and they are functional)

not keen on a Gallardo thats already had 40k spent on it, and someone clearly ragging it.

Some interesting suggestions.

Like the Ford GT, but do remember hearing about the utter nightmare some owners had with them.

Astons, i love, and considered a V12 Vantage, but reckon they also have the most potential to drop like a stone value wise, and I've a few friends who have had nightmares with them.

Seeing a GT3 on Monday, Superleggera on Tuesday, in between meetings :D :thumbsup

Evora - just isnt fast enough for me, and while I love Loti, I've already got 2.

Peters R8 is a seriously nice car though - these 2 are going to have to be VERY special to beat it  8)

Hey Andy,

Not sure if it helps but duncan ogilvie (ogilvie homes) has a gt40 and is a total petrolhead. Maybe you or some of your mates would have met him at the race on the runway? if you need a good amount of feedback on the car I'm sure it wouldnt be too hard to put you in touch with him.

On the other issue - depreciation. I am officially setting you a challenge in true top gear style.

Without wanting to sound like a knob or a killjoy, I think your 2k depreciation challenge might be somewhat more difficult this time round as by my calculations you bought the 430 at a time when the word "Recession" was engulfing us. People were projecting the end of our world and to save your money under the mattress as the banks were closing and in no time it would be £800 for a can of beans. At that time you could pick up a 911 turbo for under 30k, now they still sit at 33k (ish).

So, if your willing to accept my challenge, on purchase invoice and sales invoice if the difference is less than 2k, i willpay for the following track day for you at knockhill. But, if you lose more than 2k you can either pay for mine or give me 5 laps in a car of my choice thats in your stable at the time.

In the spirit of competition i'l ignore the 4-7k you'll spend on a clutch and £000's you'll spend on tyres in your pursuit of "end of the rack and back" whilst on the track.

What dy'u think Mr G, fancy a bet? :damnfunny

A friend on mine just sold his Superleggera recently.

Depreciation? The original owner paid £180k, did 1000 miles and sold it after 1 year for £120k. My mate kept it for almost 18 months and probably did less than 5000 miles. He sold it for £95k.

He loved it and said that it was just an animal to drive. He only used it on road and didn't track it though. His main problem was that he could never drive it slowly. He tried once and failed miserably. He ended up driving at ridiculous speeds and feared for his life or a jail sentence.

In my opinion, it has a good balance between fun and comfort on the inside. What it does have is a real sense of occassion when you get in it. I think that's something that the Porsche's lack in general (never been in a GT2 or GT3 RS though).
