This is the kind of stuff that makes all the difference.

anyone know how long the warranty is on a British GT Edition?

To summarise my good experience with MMC recently.
My car had problems sticking in 1st and 2nd gears for which Calum travelled up to Aberdeen to inspect the car, read ECU for warranty etc. This is a great help btw, more than half of the early miles on my old S2 Exige were to Edinburgh and back for warranty work (always at least twice for each issue).
The delivery of replacement parts took a fair bit of time but that's a Lotus issue.
Pick up of the car was offered but would have caused a delay (I think access to the truck is limited which could be improved) so I took the decision to drive the car down to get the repair moving quicker.
There was a warranty scare discovered when the car was on the ramps (see above) but Craig resolved it perfectly in my favour. My feeling is that in the past this kind of thing may have just been dumped back on me - good to see MMC looking after the customer and fighting their corner.
There were a couple of other issues resolved to my satisfaction - front rotors are now 308mm grooved (ones I'd bought when at the factory/Snetterton) rather than cross drilled and had new front wheel arch liners fitted. (I will be modding the old (worn through) arch liners to become the 'track set' - either Frank's GRP bubble solution or alu sheet to protect the back of the lights.)
Again, delivery on the truck would have caused additional delay so I agreed for it be driven back to Aberdeen. It arrived on Wednesday with everything sorted and a full tank of fuel. The replaced parts in the gearbox mean 1, 2 & 3 are a bit stiffer to engage but Craig assures me this will ease with usage and has offered a mechanic to come up if any further adjustment to linkage etc is needed.
Throughout I've been impressed with the level and quality of communication from Craig - this has been a step change in my opinion. All in all a positive dealer experience.
btw when returning calls to MMC, is it just me or is the receptionist trigger happy on the transfer button with everyone?
"I'll just put y...", click!

Following on from this I’m sure a few of you will be aware of the continuing problems I’ve had with the gearbox after initially being OK.
When coming down out of 5th I was unable to select any gears (and had to coast to a halt a few times) and it was exhibiting some other strange issues (which were eventually traced to the clutch clearances). At this point I was concerned about the rapidly approaching French Frolic trip and with the car out of warranty I was even looking around for replacement gearboxes.
Anyway I had the car recovered back to MMC who then set to work. The top end of the box was stripped again and problems found (Craig sent me the pics). It took a bit of time but Craig kept me updated with progress and did his utmost on my behalf with respect to warranty and the financial side.
I put a new TRD up-rated clutch on the car which Craig even sourced cheaper from Lotus with SE discount than I could get anywhere else (Fennsport etc.).
The car was back together and running OK last week so for my peace of mind before FF decided to book it on the LoT trackday at Knockhill for a shakedown. Craig offered to bring the car up (plus the Evora) and have Calum there on the day in case of any issues or adjustments.
Craig thought 1st gear was a little tight and maybe needed a very slight cable adjustment but though he could have been being hyper critical. After warm up then some full on laps in the dry his concerns were confirmed and I lost 2nd coming into the hairpin. Craig set to work in the pit garage and had it sorted in no time (while I went off to play in someone else’s car – unfortunately I could never find the keys to the Evora…).
The car was perfect after that apart from a twice requiring a higher force to change out of 1st when going for fuel at lunchtime. This happened again on the way home (first traffic lights after cruising for 2 hours in 6th) but has since been fine. Craig offered another gearbox oil change as a precaution. I’ll get this done at MMC on the way to France on the 8th.
In the end it was an ideal result for the day. I needed to get the confidence back that the car was going to be OK for the trip next month and this has been achieved. I thoroughly enjoyed the trackday and bonded with the car again – it really is an awesome machine!
I’d like to thank Craig and Calum for going above and beyond the call of duty to get this resolved, coming up to the track was fantastic, a great way to shakedown the car.
When is the Knockhill service branch opening?
I think I even saw Calum changing someones brake pads in the pits?
Thankfully no sign of Craig with the VISA machine…
Joking aside Craig’s commitment and communication was first class throughout what I’m sure was not an easy situation and I’m delighted with the result. 110% for MMC.
