Also be aware that a minor change was made with Konis, involving a different setting for the spring platform particularly for the rears. This occurred when they changed from straight to barrel springs, as the rear mounting bracket was amended also.

Quite apart from ensuring which shock should be on which end (!) your mechanic mate should ensure that the circlip for the rears sets the spring platform to give the HIGHEST ride height poss if the shocks have straight springs.

It took me 2 years to work out why the rear of my car was slammed and the front "regular" after fitting a set of Tut's pre-owned Konis from the original N1 TUT! My car was much later and had the different brackets at the rear.

Sooner you get S2 Bilsteins the better of course. Bell and Colville been doing a stonking deal for under £500...
