Ditto
ahh.. not just been me then..

I couldn't tell you what the dials are saying most of the time.. tho most of us can roughly work out speed based on gears-revs...

I usually think about bends in terms of gears but I also need to start thinking about use of the brake, duration as I may be taking too little in at times. Guess you know when you've taken in too much..

Duffus is my "bogie bend" at KH, probably a sub-concious fear from days of yore witnessing various cars from full race to daft hot-hatches overcooking it & getting into bloody scary-looking tank-slappers (steady on now Shug :P ), sometimes ending in a roll in the kitty litter (outfield side) or spinning into the tyre wall (infield) at the bottom of the hill not far from the marshall's post (seen them leg it from there before   )

BUT - after the SIDC day (my 1st sample of the new surface) Duffus is far more consistent & therefore probably easier, so I'll gather more & more confidence with more use of it

I'll now fail to not glance at the fecking speedo next time  which isn't the best coz it's just an LCD figure (stack dash)

According to DDTB, I'm taking Duffus at between 75 and 80mph with him paxing. I brake far too much for it like Mac and don't turn in late enough so I reckon you could go a good bit faster than that, though that's with 48s on. I can comfortably go round it on a cool down lap at 70mph.

I would think mid 70's would be a good entry speed.

Mac
Funnily enough, it's about the one section I think I have nailed - it's usually rotating pretty nicely with a bit of trail-braking to the apex, then harry-flatters down the hill. McIntyres I can f##k up 5 out of 10 - chicane isn't always pretty - Clarks frusrated me with the old engine, as the gearing was all wrong, so f##ked it more than not - the hairpin, I never seem to get the exit right.

So basically, I'm sh*t

Still, I know where I can improve, at least....

chicane is my bogey - once off into the litter (wet track ;) ) and 2 slides out of it, once with gordon, and a wee one with Rossatron paxing. i just never know if I should be braking before it, and if so, when. As I am now , I either dont accelerate as much after the wee bump, or I do then panic brake as I think I'm entering too fast :(

Simple solution for me - track instruction :)

I used to think I was fine with most of it (and then realised it's mostly the car and not driver skill  ). Mcintyres foxes me quite often and i can't find the right line through the chicane. Duffus I really like, although I even managed to spin there between the right and left hander  because of carrying far too much speed into turn 1 trying to get round a cupra and then making sure i wasn't rear ended by said cupra. :x

Nail => Head

It's all very well discussing the theory on a forum, but the only way you'll nail it is with someone who knows in the pax seat observing exactly where you can improve.

A few laps with Mckean and I was finally taking Butchers flat (still having involuntary twitch of the right foot at times) I knew it was possible but I could never get the hang of it. A very minor correction to my line and its sorted.

Bogey corners for me are still Clarks and possibly Macintyres.

Very true.

Hairpin always anoys me though.....braking i have sorted, after getting severly sideways when I overcooked it last time in yet another attempt to try and eek another 5 yds out of my braking zone leaving the pagids smoking!

The line through it is very interesting, and exit is annoying waiting for second cam to kick in, and have even tried engaging 1st (111r gearing allows 50 in 1st) but feels like you are trying to kill it (and i'm not re-knoned for mechanical sympathy!).

Still, it would be too easy if you felt every lap was perfect :D :D

Trick is supposedly to turn in much later than you think right (although I've not seen your turn in point) and turn it into as much of a straight as you can - accelerating through the clipping point.

Knowing this doesn't stop me making a tit of it almost every lap, mind you.....
