Just wondering why there are no posts regarding the Lotus event at Silverstone on the 16 July

Its gonna be run by the RMA and there will be official Lotus tech's there as well as Lotus Club International, Lotus Sport devision etc
Check out
http://www.rma-limited.com/ for more info.
£225 entry aint bad either for a full day and lunch!!

For a sessioned day that seems a bit expensive to me.
Last Friday at Knockhill it was less than £100 for 4 hours open pit lane.
And I'm sure that included some instruction if required.
Okay not comparing Silverstone to Knockhill, but still.

Hmm, <£100 to lap one of the UK's smallest, least exciting tracks for 4 hours??!! Now that sounds expensive!!
Ive lapped Knockhill many times but in a RWD car its just not all that much fun. Would you not agree?
The RMA days are always slightly on the pricey side but they are very profesionally run and the higher cost keeps the neds in their Nova's away!!
Add 2 this the fact its being run in conjunction with Lotus themselves and i'd have to say that the price really isn't that high!!
Personally i'd rather experince an F1 grade circuit once than attend 3 Hot Marques nite's at KH.
Each to thair own tho eh

It's not the F1 circuit though, the international circuit is a fair bit shorter (midway between the GP and national layouts).

Do you really think that it is one of the UK's least exciting tracks? Granted, it is short (although there is shorter on the BTCC calendar). But it has gradients, some testing curves (Clarks at least, if you are pushing it) and enough of a straight for an Elise.
In a car with higher top end speed, I can understand that you would want a longer straight to stretch the legs... but, in an Elise? I'm not convinced.
I have no signature.

Remember it's sessioned - 20mins per hour so you'll probably be lucky to get 2 hours track time. Personally I cba travelling all the way down there for that...if I had a car...or lived in the UK!

Bad timing - your post is on the back of most of the regulars here spending a weekend which kicked off with the four hours at Knockhill. Reading the various reports, you would have a pretty hard time topping the fun they had regardless of the venue!!! I think these events are as much about the people and the crack you can have, and not just the circuit.
It looked like amazingly good fun, and I was gutted I couldn't join in

I will definately have a go once sufficiently trained.
Can't comment on Silverstone - never laid eyes on it.
Gary.

Nicely patronising there mate, if you bother reading about the recent trips down south you will notice SE excursions to Donington, Cadwell and Teesside to name a few.
Last time I drove them they still had left hand corners.........

Cost is a big factor. I've only done a couple of trackdays (Teesside and Knockhill) but I'd like to do English tracks in future. However, the cost is not just higher because of the trackday cost; you have to add on fuel for the journey there and an overnight stay (or two). That's probably a big factor in not going down south more.
For being on our doorstep and reasonably cheap, you can't beat Knockhill for fun and value for money!

Racing on the Silverstone national circuit this weekend, and it doesn't look very exciting to me. 6 corners! Delighted its an 800 mile round trip - would rather race Knockhill
Wishing it was Cadwell
Still we have the Exige day there the following weekend

Personally I do think KH is a bit expensive.... but paying under £100 for as much driving as I can manage in 4/5 hours still seems better than paying over £200 for 20 min sessions....
As far as I'm concerned... a track is a track is a track and a corner is a corner is a corner..... and if I'm going as fast as I can round it.... I'm in my happy place....
