Might be picking her up tomorrow too if she's ready.
"AA warranty under siege" the Conclusion! :)
I've been shouted at by the Senior Technical Adviser for Parts and Labour for asking dificult questions....!
I quite enjoy writing snotty letters (it used to be my only joy, now I have my Liz!) and even by my standards the e-mail I have sent to his boss is pretty good, explaining how paying customers don't like being shouted at and how, in not so many words, he was a fool.
Got his bosses e-mail adress form the customer care line, which was nice. All I wanted was an explanation of what the claim was rejected for so I could write to their complaints dept!
I'm going to have to pay the garage and then claim it back.
Going to pick her up at 1, so I'll be 'testing' her to the (Read:my girly) limits this afternoon (On nights again!)

Over £550 for the clutch and fitting! Add to that an A service and a couple of wheel bearings....
Forgot to check where the wheel bearings were coming from and they were Lotus ones at £50 each and an hour-ish each to fit, I'll not do that again....
A service was ~£120 didn't seem too bad, picked up all the bits I knew about and a few little bits I didn't.
But I got her back and she is all better again
Good job I didn't spend anything on the girlfriend for Valantines day eh...

Don't worry, the Parts and Labour lot are in no doubt that I am going to be a difficult to shrug off with half truths and techno-babble!
It's keeping me amused for the moment, I'm just waiting for the reply to my snotty-letter-rocket. I just hate the "It's too complicated to explain" attitude, when the bloke couldn't argue his position even if he wanted to.
I hope that no-one else has to deal with this without a suitable amount of technical knowledge (In no small part from the forums!) and the brass neck to tell them to get stuffed!
Anyway, they won't grind me down as I don't have the imagination to get bored and I have lots of time on my hands during the day.....
As I said above if it's not covered then I'll shut up and leave them alone! (For a bit anyway!)

SUCCESS!
After 2 snotty letters, a host of phone calls and being shouted at the AA have agreed to pay up the £475 I am entitled to and I got an apology for being shouted at.
I was thinking about trying for a bit of goodwill but I'm big enough to walk away with what I'm entitled to (and not push my luck!)
Now what to spend it all on..... (See general forum for options!)
Cheers for listening to me monk on, and never, under any circumstances back down from an insurance claim!

All I really did was kept challenging everything they tried to fob me off with. Some of which was utter tripe, like the 2 exemptions that weren't in the T&Cs, some of it was logical but unfounded assumptions and the rest was plain nonsense...
It would apear that the call centre staff were just running through the list of general fob-offs and they ran out.
Or, the boss man decided that shouting at a customer as you can't answer his questions is pretty pants, so pay up and he'll leave you alone.
Either way is good for me!
(Note to self: never deal with the general public)
Seriously though I do enjoy writing official looking letters of this manner (I like the challenge, what a sad life I lead
) the RAF spent a lot of (Taxpayers!
) money training me to write properly (Amongst other things) and it was effectivly my job for 2 years, if anyone needs some help, drop me a line.
I still can't spel tho.....

Not sure how much longer I will get away with the AA parts and labour, especially as I have a Honda engine in, but so far it has worked brilliantly, with no hassle over any of my claims, and they have ammounted to three per year for the last three years.
I now have my own personal contact, Dale, who is almost a family friend. Like Richard, I had a clutch failure, on the track at Cadwell ten days ago, but was able to get two gears including 6th so drove it home, and no problem with the claim.
So this year it has been CV joint, driveshaft failure, radiator failure, and now clutch re-placement. Thought that this year was the last as my car is now nine years old, and well over 100,000 miles, but they are going to continue to cover me.
So one satisfied customer.
