Window Rattle.

Post by EliseR » Tue Jul 10, 2007 11:19 am

Both my Pax and Driver windows are now rattling like hell when going over even the smallest bump or hump. MMC have already fixed the driver window first, but I can't be arsed taking the car in every month or so to tighten a screw or two...

Anyway care to explain how I would tighting whatever needs tightened to stop this annoying rattle?

Cheers,

G.

I believe the S2 had a different design of window winding mech from an S1 (definately does if its got electric windows), but it may be the same supporting guides.

Getting to the point now .....if so then there are a multiple number of screws and bolts for adjusting the feckin windows guides all of which can

a) be loose or b) become loose

Also the felt in the guides wears something cronic letting the window move

Felt is cheap part to buy but a bugger to fit

So basically your stuffed.....

Turn up the stereo like everyone else and stop wasting my time

My window doesn't rattle... but the door did rattle on the striker pins (which made it sound like the window was also rattling). Could have got the upgraded pins... but I went for the skin flint insulation tape on the pins solution... it's quiet now.
I have no signature.

I did the insulation tape thing and it worked well to reduce door rattle :)

For the window (pax side rattle only) i removed the panel and cheched all the screws which were fine so i engineered a couple of bits of black rubber and slotted them in between the window and the door itself. This worked but my pax is forbidden to wind the window down

I've noticed that the rattles do come and go. It just depends what mood she's in that day
