Free party in Edinburgh (on a bus)...

Will provide more info shortly, but I will be looking for 6 Edinburgers to "trial" a new service. It will include lots of singing, dancing, and generally being an arse (sound like fun yet?

)...going to follow a pub crawl kind of operation. On our vehicle, with various stops at various pubs, finishing at a nightclub of everyones choice (make it a busy one!). All "bus booze" will be provided as a freebie. Pub and club booze, you can buy.

It may have a bit of a fancy dress theme, as this will be a launch event.

If 12 of you are interested then I will do the two nights...

The date is not solid yet, but I am thinking Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August, kicking off around 7pm both nights.

Question - is it legal to drink on a bus? I know it's illegal to drink on a bus designated as going to a sports event -ie the supporters buses for football etc? Does this cover your venture?

Another thing - does this need to be licenced? Maybe one of the SE legal eagles will confirm!

Sorry -not trying to put a downer on it - but I've seen so many small businesses fail on lack of planning.

Also I think the license is only required if I sell drinks on the bus, which I will never do.

I was on somthing similar a couple of years ago. If I remeber correctly (and my memory of the night is a little vague!), it was called Club Class. It was double decker bus with music blasting. You took your own drink on the bus and went round 4 or 5 pubs getting a drink in each (1st drink in each pub included), then free entry into a night club at end of night.

I was in a sorry state by the end, but much fun was had.

Don't need a licence to drink on a bus. You only need a licence to sell 'intoxicating liquor' on or off your premises (on-trade or off-licence)Hence, no sale = no licence.

I've done something similar before on behalf of a spirit brand. Was quite effective.

Club Class is still about - big silver bus, plus i am sure there is another. It is by no means a new idea, what i would be doing is investigating with all the bars/clubs how they feel about it (most will be fooked when they arrive!) and also negotiating entry fees and no queueing.

I think there has to be a twist to it, to make it appeal!

Went on one of those think they gave out jelly shots (less messy?). Seem to do a deal with bars where you get slightly cheaper booze in each place. Think one of my mates actually worked on one - the things he saw

Hen nights seem to love it. Are you limited to 6?

There is a twist

Let's just say I am excluding 75% of the potential audience, but I hope the remaining 25% will make up for it. I am getting a Limo for the other 75%.

This is not a major deal to be honest, its a side project that my friend will be managing. I am basically buying the vehicles and letting him run it.
If it falls on its arse, its no biggy.
