I was with a police inspector going passed Aviemore last year. He was sitting about 70 in the 60 when he got pulled by an unmarked car. He tried the 'sorry guys I'm a cop as well' routine and was told he should know better, 3 points and a £60 fine. Then he got an official repremand from his bosses.

So at least they are treated the same as everybody else.
