Aberdeen Help Brake pads knacked

Post by Victor Meldrew » Tue Jul 31, 2007 8:19 am

I am up in Aberdeen for a course and I think my front pads are down to the metal. The outer two look fine but I can here a scraping when using the brakes that's coming from the front.
I don't have any of my tools with me so just need a hand with a jack and a wrench so I can have a look. Worst case is take it to kwick fit but I don't fancy spending over £100 on something I can sort myself with £40 pads.

Can easy lend you the jack and the wrench but its gravel outside my house so not ideal for jacking up cars :(
If no one else can help, let me know and we'll arrange something. Where are you staying?

Managed to get my fingers round the back and it feels like plenty pad left. Might have a bit grit or something stuck in the pad.

John, Ive seen wear/heard roughness on the caliper purely from rust extending the diameter of the disc and rubbing the caliper!! A few knocks witht he hammer took the rust off and put it back in shape. if your disc is that rusty though check for pitting and remaining thickness...
