MMC
I wouldn't be overly concerned just yet they probably just want to make sure that its not a race-car they are dealing with. Sometimes its better talking with the factory direct if you want it sorted out quicker. Neil Turner is the guy at Hethel you want to talk to , I have found him to be very helpful in the past. Good luck.

update:
well after few weeks messing around finally got some progress today , not really good progress though .
Neil Turner at lotus factory is just off the phone , turns out the guy who has had the car before me has been "abusing"it a little. engine management has recorded 6 standing starts, and also that the car has been over rev'd on a few occassions in its early life.
Neil was very understanding on the phone and relizes i have been very unfortunate. He has explained that by law they should be sayin no to a new gearbox , but he is gonna try and pull a few strings tomorow due to the circumstances. He knows this is my dream car and he said he doesnt want to ruin my dream, and that he really wants to help but at the momet doesnt know how. Apparently he's gonna try and work somthing tomorow.
totally gutted at the moment , cant help but think this is karma acting , for not buying the car i was set for from grahme at MMC.
Other option he mentioned was wielding the gearbox, but he explained that debris (Sp??) could be in the box and cause further problems later on.
On a total downer now , cant see anything happening tomorow. Thinking bout cancelling my holiday to florida to fund new box ....
should i call the guy a bought it from ? what can i say though
i am depressed

Dont get down mate.... Its just one of those things and trust me ive had my fair share of problems with my car - unfortunately becuase its a private sale i wouldn't think you'd get anywhere calling the guy....
Look into all your options first - sure there will be someone or something somewhere that will help..... Even a second hand box and then someone with the skills to fit it would do you?!

cheers m8 , had thought bout getting a second hand box but dunno were id source one from . Usually have a bit of spare cash around for things like this but happening so soon after buying the exige its harsh. Who knows whats gonna happen , Could cancel my holiday but that would be a bit selfish for the G/f eh !
Its just the fact that i had only driven the car for like 4 or 5 days and now its gone
i know its a long shot but maybe neil can do summit tomorow .

If I get a defo "no" from Neil tomorow , then i am gonna ask for photos/reasons in writing etc.BiggestNizzy wrote:Do you have any pictures , I have only skimmed through. is it the case thats cracked/broken/smashed ?
will post them up if so.
bear in mind i am not mechanically minded , Neil mentioned that a "pin" inside the clutch broke out , i presume with some force and cracked/split the gearbox case . make any sense to anyone ?
did he really m8 ? That sounds promising , To be honest i aint been sure how the guys at MMC are treating the situation but Id hope they were on my side.renmure wrote:When I was at MMC on monday with the exige Graeme told me that they were doing all they could to help you out and pulling the strings at their end. Hopefully all will be well. Have your holiday and try and forget about for a while.

From what I have seen in person when I bought my S2 Exige it is a printout that looks like a receipt with lots of fairly boring looking numbers, with times in minutes and seconds for how long the engine was at what speeds.j33ama wrote:apparently , the ecu reconises when the revs are held above 4500rpm for more than 5 seconds , then if the car hits 0-60 within a certain time then the ECU records this . Maybe one to watch for all the guys who frequent tracks and have warrenty remaining.
What with it being a private sale comeback is nil ; you pay less but takes your chances I guess. Chin up fella.
