It got hit in the impact and burst all over the place. It took me a while to realise what the foam oozing out the boot was!
JJ, seats are all yours. Pete, you're welcome to the engine!

Jon, you read my mind!! I was about to post to see if someone could run me to Denny on Thursday to get my hurricane.
The courtesy car runs out on Wednesday, being picked up Thursday morning. They won't extend it and I don't yet have my settlement figure, so I'll be carless as of Thursday
Thursday is only day I can do - just need to confirm taking the morning or afternoon off with my boss. Will text you Jon. Thanks mate!!

Gutted absolutley gutted !
Hope everything works out, I know there is a fair bit of damage but on a car worth circa £20k ?? must have been border line write off, no ?
What was the reason for not giving you a copy of the engineers report ?
None of the above matters I know but just curious on how they came to the conclusion.
I hope it's sorted quickly I've had an accident drag on for 2 1/2yrs now with no end in site !!!
I look forward to your new Elise

The car needs a new tub - damage that and your virtually guaranteed a write off.

They said it was based on repair costs alone, which I'm guessing with the need for a new tub probably brought the repairs to close to 75% of the vehicle value. I guess when you're getting that close, you might as well write-off.
Don't know why they won't let me see the engineer's report. Does anyone know why? Am I legally entitled to see it?

Just spoke to insurance company. They've now received my docs (V5, etc) and my justification for negotiating their offer. They have told me that they have 28 days in which to consider my negotiation and to either make me a better offer or keep it the same.
The girl on the phone said it may happen quicker than that, so hopefully it will. If not, I'm going to turn into the most annoying customer they've ever had and will be phoning them 3 times a day until they finally sort it out!

Hi Dezzy,
Have you pointed out in actual number, how much their first offer was lacking? I did this, and then went quiet on them. Thinking that if I contacted them first, I would seem somehow desperate. It took 3 weeks and a lot of nail biting on my part. But low and behold they came back with exactly the extra I had said.
Mores the point, have you been test driving yet

No, No! not Bloke. It's pronounced Black, as in Plaque

I told them exactly what I want in the letter I've sent to them, with dealer adverts included as examples. Me keeping quiet for 3 weeks will be difficult!
No test drives yet! Hopefully soon!

Glad you posted cos that means you are alright and not afraid to talk to like minded silly little car owners, as well as reminding us all that there are dangers out there to look out for, and that our silly cars can take a bit of a beating!
The most important thing is that you are still around, and I wish you all the best in getting a decent settlement / new car as quickly as possible.

Have you tried contacting the assessors direct? My insurers were worse than useless, but the assessors were very helpful, and the inspector sent me a PDF of the report direct...it came in very handy to see what he had actually said/photographed compared to the sh*t I was getting from the insurers
Don't know what the legal situation is with obtaining it, but a bit of sweet talking might work
