Assistance - wheel nuts
Anyone in the Glasgow area have spare wheel nuts I could borrow by Monday for a few days? Not sure if different models use different sizes, but mine's a S2 111.
Got a puncture - Drivers can put on a new pair of rear Bridgestones on Monday.
However, I had the wheel off to have a look at the puncture, and I've overtightened one of the locking wheelnuts - the part of the head gripped by the key has cracks in it, and I'm not sure if the key will be able to loosen it.
Drivers have said they'll get it out somehow, but in all likeliehood they'll first try with the key, probably knacker the key, and then have to destory the nut to get it out.
Therefore, I'm going to need at least one spare nut (and if the locking key gets destroyed, then I'll have a job replacing the other lockies.)
Unfortunately the parts guy at MMC hadn't turned up for work this morning, so don't know how soon I'll be able order up some new ones to replace the locking ones (I now know why there's been previous advice to ditch the locking nuts!)
Might be Monday before I'm on-line again, hence bit of a long-shot, but if anyone thinks they can help...

I have a full set of these at home that you can have if you are able to get to Kilmacolm -

I have a dynomec wheel nut remover and nothing has beat it yet, you can borrow it if you like it's better than those LH thread jobbies but it will destroy the nut

Cheers, Graeme; Driver's reckon they'll get it out OK, it what I'm going to replace it with that's the problem.
JJ - what sort of fit are they for the standard wheels - I see they're longer than the usual bolts?
On the plus side, I guess having a hex head on all bolts would be easier in the long-run, rather than using the Elise 'standard' wheel nut removal key.

They are the right ones, the extra length makes no difference.scottydog wrote: JJ - what sort of fit are they for the standard wheels - I see they're longer than the usual bolts?

The plus side of not having to use that pishy splined key is why people replace them with the ones in the link
Fair-play to Driver's fitter - the boy was up for the challenge.
After a few "uhmms", "ahhs", and trying a couple of things that didn't work, he hammered a torx bit into the hollow of the wheel-nut.
Once it had taken hold, it was just a case of unscrewing as normal.
New tyres fitted, and no extra charge for the messing about (although I just caught him in time as the jack was being manouvered under the diffuser from the back - after I had already asked if he was OK with jacking points.)
