Nosey C*nting Neighbours.

Post by EliseR » Fri Aug 31, 2007 1:59 pm

Forgot to post this, been a mentally busy day.

Dropping a friend off last night in the Murrays, quite late - maybe 1.30AM...

I decided to come home via town, roof was off, and music was on, yadda yadda.

Close to home, I cross Drumbrae Roundabout, and start to climb the hill. I drive past an oncoming police car, whose driver gave me "the look"...

I indicate and turn left onto Craigs Road, and have a sneaking suspicion that in a second or two I am going to have a police car behind me...

So without further delay, (I’m in a 30), I boot the accelerator and before you know it, I’m doing 90 down the road....

No, actually that’s just bollocks :) Had you though!

Anyway, I turn left into Craigs road, knowing that the police car will be behind me in a second or two, so I slowed to about 20mph and kept an eye out. As soon as I spotted they had turned to follow, I indicated, pulled over and got out. They didn’t flash their lights and looked surprised that I had initiated the being pulled process.

Anyway, turns out some nosey neighbour in the MURRAYS has spotted my car "been driven very loudly and aggressively". Which is complete balls. Yes I was louder than most (new exhaust is ACE  ), but I was not being a knob.

I was warned that the police officer would be visiting said neighbour for a more accurate report, and if need be, she will return to me at home and issue me with a car Asbo. I told her I would appeal any attempt to issue said Asbo, as having a loud orange sports car does not justify being victimised, yadda yadda yadda.

Remains to be seen what will happen...

Down with Nazi rule I say, they can take their Asbo and stick it in their arse.

PS - the female cop was the one busting my balls. They guy was loving the car, asking me what I thought of Aston Martins, telling me he is a keen track driver etc etc. He asked me to let him hear the exhaust, and his exact words, "Impressive Note" - I had to laugh...

She on the other hand looked like she wanted to rip my head off and sh1t down my throat.

probably some sad pathetic loser that has nothing better to do with his time that he has to make other peoples life a misery!

I had a similar situation were a guy, for no reason at all, started parking near my drive way, so as to making it difficult for me to get out.... initially i ignored it but was forced to confornt him one day when i had doubts if i d be able to get out without scraping my car...

anyway, long story short - after confronting him, he never did it again

What's p1ssing me off most, is the attitude of the female PC. "If I speak to the neighbour and I find out you were driving erratically, I will visit you at home to issue you with a Car Asbo"....

WTF?

So I just pick some random number plate, call the police, complain about said driver being a nuisence, and hey presto, Asbo???

I think f*cking not. I will hit the roof if I end up paying through the nose at the satisfaction of some snivveling little b*stard who jumps at the sound of every motorbike which rides past him.

"Help me Mr Officer, it was so loud Mr Officer". Pathetic as you say. I can imagine this country in a few years time, "Excuse me son, are you aware that Chrome Orange Paint has been outlawed and is currently a CLASS A paint? Posession and display of a CLASS A paint is a serious offense, and I have no choice but to issue you with a Super Asbo and 12 points."

I'm moving to Monaco.

Gary.

ps. AFAIK, they cant issue an asbo without sufficient evidence against the said party. If they were issueing an ASBO on grounds of "excessive noise" then they would need some way to prove the noise level....

We had a similar talk with one of our neighbours last summer, as apparently we (and our friends) were driving too fast in our street ...... the word speeding was even used. :?

This was clearly just jealousy as dom has nice cars and our friends have nice cars (ie you lot!!) as our street is a 30 speed limit and I would like to see someone go round the 90 degree bends at 30mph without crashing into the nearest wall!!

It's unfortunate, but the cruzer masses who are now overly fond of drainpipe straight through exhausts have, as ever, ruined it for everyone else.

So if you have a car any lounder than a hairdryer these days, it's going to wind up the Do-Gooders.

Do remember though, that a generally accepted principle is that noise in a built-up area after 11pm is a no-no. If it's not possible to drive a car quietly enough after that time, either you can't take it out, or you need to change your car, or you need to risk the wrath of the folks in The Murrays ;-)

For info, we had a 99 Impreza with Scoobysport backbox. Even idling our way into our cul de sac late at night felt kinda loud. Thankfully our neighbours never moaned, but I did wonder how they felt...

Campbell

PS - the coppers were probably really bored and needed a subject to practise their routine on...you were the unlucky winner! Chin up.

All my neighbours are much older than me, and most of them seem to have hints of aggressiveness to say the least.
