That's what I was thinking ;) The Wife Approval Form was rejected for the small Fiat, so it's back to the drawing board.

Swift Gti all the way, spoke to David Halley at an autotest when it was launched and he explained that it's basically a super1600 to meet homologation regs for the road. Would make a really good rally car/toy for the wife, either or same thing.

Yes the 500 looks ace, inside and out, but it's pitched sqaurely at the Mini market - "premium small car" - and I cannot afford to pay premium prices for a daily runabout and winter car. That rules out the Swift "Sport" also or any warm flavours of any car. Christ if I was going to spend £10k I'd end up buying another VX/Elise!

The Panda ticked the boxes at <£6k for a brand new motor with 3 years warranty. Light, 5 doors, good to drive, good base model spec, reliable and good in snow and ice (according to Clarkson!). It's just 'er indoors wouldn't look past the visuals  This coming from a woman who wants an MG-TF :x

So I'm back looking at a new Ka (still with 1960s engine), year-old Swifts, Lupos, Yaris, Aygo, C2, 107 etc etc. Drove the Grande Punto, nice car very competent but the base 1.2 felt rather underpowered. They've been selling sh*tloads of them!!

She obviously hasnt seen a Skoda Roomster then! :puke

I'm in the Swift Sport camp I'm afraid. Puker wee car, OK the interior is rather plastiky but the Sport is a nice piece of kit mechanically.

Saw one the other day in titanium with black cabin roof (similar to the mini) arch spats and offset racing stripes which I thought was rather tasty!
