Such sad news. A great loss to all.

He put so much back into the sport, someone to really look up to.

I noticed some tributes in the F1 pitlane yesterday on ITV. Saw some of the SIDC boys doing a driveby near the Lanarkshire home on skynews.

Still cant quite get my head round it.

Yeah the family release a statement asking for some peace to greive.

So the SIDC decide to go down there in a big convoy with their noisy subaru's.

Nice gesture, I believe they made a tribute to place there but they could have left it for a couple of days imho. :(

Saw Jimmy on the news tonight, showing remarkable strength to be facing the media so early.

Stupid press here doesn't cover anything. Just a small column in the newspaper saying Colin died in a crash, that's it.

The man deserves a lot more attention!

What I really don't understand is the lack of information on the Subaru cars website. IMHO, Colin made Subaru what it is now. It was his way of driving that brought Subaru into the worlds spotlights.. I highly appreciate the news brought on http://www.swrt.com but keeping http://www.subaru.co.uk completely silent as far as this sad news goes is an act of disrespect IMHO.

CCC site saying that the Rally is going ahead as planned. I'm seriously thinking of heading down. It was last years Rally that I met Colin (albeit briefly) at the close in Perth, this was when they were shaking down the MK11 project which I believe subsequently grew into the McRae Rally Car.

Anyone else fancy a trunch through some Perthshire forests as a mark of respect?

Agreed, which makes Jimmy's demeanour even more remarkable really.

Am tempted to head down for the rally myself also.

Have been so busy at work haven't spoken to my parents for a while

Called tonight and theyve told me that they have spent 4 hours today with the aircrash investigation team led by a Mr Fairbank from London and have been giving lengthy statements to the CID.

Seems both my folks were out and witnessed Colins flight. They say that the saw the chopper up close, coming low across the Clyde Valley but sounding 'very loud, very bad', it tipped nose down very suddenly and nose dived but came up again and levelled out, it turned, climbed much higher and headed back towards Lanark. Seems it spent a while in the air trying to correct a 'distinct visible wobble' from the tail rotors. No smoke though. it then suddenly went down.

The guys from the Investigation team even had a large scale model of the chopper with them so my folks could demonstrate the angles they saw it flying at. Mum is still so upset at what she saw she broke her heart on the phone with me :(

A terrible, terrible tragedy and a tremendous loss. :(
