Sleeper to london??

Has anybody here ever been to london on the caledonian sleeper? I'm toying with the idea of giving it a try, but am not sure about sleeping in a train cabin!

I know i could fly down on monday morning but the 6am flight out of glasgow is horrible....

any advice welcomed!

Flight always wins for me. I hate trains. Plus, I live near the airport, which makes it easier!

My mate recently went on the sleeper with work and he said he'd never do it again. He had some gigantic snoring ape in the cabin with him and was close to murdering him!!

I used to use the sleeper. Its ok. Normal tickets mean you have to share with a random. Wasnt so bad. HTH cheers

Some work colleagues have used the sleeper. One said that it was awful because the train kept stopping and starting with jerky movements all through the night.

You do get a cabin to yourself if you go 1st class though...so no need to sleep with a snoring ape, unless you want to

Sleeping on the M6 is no fun at all but does get the heart pumping nothing scaryier than doing 70mph on the inside lane and awaking to find yourself doing 30mph in the outside lane, I'd go the day before and stay overnight.

I've done the sleeper the other way round London to Glasgow. I liked it!

Sit in the buffet car with a beer and the toddle off to bed. The train goes slow so that you don't get woken with noise / bumps. And at least you wake up in the city centre rather than an airport in the meddle of nowhere.

I've done Dundee to London. I'd go for it if you can afford the premium, mine was on EAs bill...

The cabin is ok, but as said above I reckon you'd be sharing with a random. 10 of us travelled down, so we didnt have that issue...

I took the sleeper recently: book early and you get it for £19 a ticket.

At that price, can't complain.

A couple of vinos and I slept fine.

I've done the sleeper in the past but I wouldn't again given the choice.

While it moves slowly all night I must have princess and the pea syndrome or something because I could still feel it stopping and starting but I did get the odd bit of sleep.

I had a no hairy ape upgrade to 1st class so that was not a problem and I don't remember it being very expensive.

The most annoying thing actually was that it didn't get in to Kings Cross until 9ish as far as I remember meaning I could have got the plane down in the morning anyway by the time I got to the office.
