Simon, I'd do my damndest to get as many Scottish Sevens & NE7ENs (NE England 7s) to attend

They did make it quite clear though that it is a joint back scratching arrangement they have and that if any other clubs try to book the day... they'll be told to feck off...... they are not worthy..... remember.... it is an honour to be allowed on at EF...... don't know if it's even worth trying to organise anything if the answer will be no....
at least at KH they just take your money and let you go on after a short briefing ..... ie not going on for too f'ing long whilst making you stand in the f'ing cold just to hear what you can't do, why you should be jumping for joy at the honour of just being allowed to be there and how they'll take their ball back if they decide they don't like you........
Then again... maybe I'm just a grumpy b*stard tonight....

Totally agree!
Loved the circuit, shame I can't say the same about the organisers...
John @ SIDC is a much nicer chap IMHO

I think if we did manage to persuade them to let us do it we could find enough people between all the club connections?
Sounds like a genial plan in principle

How many cars are required to make it feasible?
Something in the region of 40-50
I'd *hopefully* manage to gather roughly a quarter of that from the sources I mentioned above, surely between S_E & Scottish Scoobies we'd have sufficient numbers to be able to approach Melville Motor Club (or whatever they were called) with a realistic proposition?

Sounds like a plan!!
However from what i gather the planning permission only allows a certain amount of days per year and if the motorcycle club give all allowable car days to javelin then it could be tricky/impossible.
Its a shame cause its an awesome track and it would be ace to organise a day ourselves.

Just for info MLR are trying to put together a day at EF. The only thing is they are looking for 30 to 35 cars so with so few it is a bit more expensive. They are also looking at half days. This will probably be in asscociation with SIDC as they seem to be sharing the track days now.
See
Here
I dare say if they get more numbers then the price may go down.

fyi
heres what I wrote to Javelin.
guess im gonna have to cut my losses.

Dear Colin
I was unable to attend the trackday at East Fortune on 4th March.
The reason was that my insurance company, AoN – using the Lotus Esteem insurance (the official lotus backed insurance company), were unable to provide backing due to the track East Fortune not having MSA approval.
I informed Javelin on the Thursday before the event on the main number that I would be unable to attend on Saturday because of the lack of insurance.
On the Wednesday, I had called the main Javelin number, and also yourself directly, trying to find out about approval.
My insurance company usually just like to be let known I am going on track and insurance is no problem.
I knew nothing about what approval is required for trackday insurance.
I now know that MSA approval of the track is a standard thing. My insurance company had not heard of East Fortune and so looked into the MSA Approval.
My insurer isn’t obscure either – being the official lotus backed insurance. They were contacted by 5 people regarding obtaining insurance for East Fortune, all declined.
I understand other people had been in contact with Javelin asking for approval status, so it was not just me that had this issue.
MSA were contacted and they said that East Fortune have not had a license for a couple of years.
I understand it was later notice, being 2 days before the day, but with it being so "cheap" and the interest so high I would have expected a refund would be no problem.
I was very disappointed to be informed that this would not be the case, no options.
It was hardly late in obtaining insurance – as this has never been a problem before.
I feel that the fact that the circuit was not MSA approved should have been indicated during booking.
I would appreciate either a refund or a credit to use against the next day at East Fortune in May which I would then use as a present to a friend (as I will still not be able to obtain insurance through my insurer).
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
Phil

Phil,
If your on the yahoo groups drop John Stewart a line.
There was rules & regs issued at the start of 2005 which tightened up the procedures for running track days. I'm just wonder if Javelin should have hosted one on a non-MSA approved track.
I take it that it was sold as a track day and not an Airfield day?
Cheers

I have heard back from John from SIDC. He is happy to look into it if enough people were interested.

Javelin do distinguish between Airfield days and Circuit days on their website...
EF is listed as a Circuit day....
