Karen/ Simon

Don't get me/us wrong we do appreciate your work, but it seems like you have given yourself extra work by going through all the photos in the gallery. I could be wrong.

Did you think of asking before submitting people’s photos? We have had this problem within SE before.

Thanks to Simon and Karen for doing this calender again ;)

I certainly enjoyed this years version and the one's I gifted were highly regarded too ;) The actual calender is so much better in the flesh.

For next year, which now starts next week as far as our calender is concerned can we have a simple calender forum in the gallery where all pics can be selected from and dated?

Then we can leave the selection and distribution to the hard working Karen and Simon to bring to life another 12 happy SE months for our real desk tops :) The calender is a great asset to us, please support it's continuation.

I'm with Mr hoy on this one

Greatly appreciate the hard work going into this years calendar and love the idea that it is to show SE not some arty farty pics

And would like a monthly competition for next year calendar as that way we will probably get some good shots

This sounds like a most excellent idea - and perhaps would lessen the workload in the autumn?

In case my own, earlier post was misunderstood, it was intended to illustrate that we can't expect Simon/Dave/Karen to spot all pics buried in the forum - there'll always be some folk disappointed their fave pic wasn't nominated - and perhaps some of us were waiting for submission invite like last year (I'm one of those folk... but it's just "one of those things"... I'm sure I'll get over it ).

Looks like an enormous task and one (like in all forums/clubs) that is bound to please some and bother others.

So hats off to Simon/Dave/Karen for organising it... :thumbsup

Simon/Karen,

Would it be too late to add a pic this coming weekend? We've got the museum of flight visit, and one of the main aims of it is to get a cool pic of Loti in front of the vulcan. If it's too late, no worries. Just thought I'd check. We can always submit it for next year.

Cheers,

Save it for next year's one Dezzy :thumbsup

Lawrence, your suggestion is exactly what I was planning on doing once this one was out of the way. Doing a monthly 'competition' is just more hassle and doesn't really add anything as the outcome will be the same.

As for December, I was intending on trying to get some smart pics of S1 and S2 Elises and Exiges and asking someone (scotty f probably) to come up with some collage type image of them. Having a vote isn't really a problem except that the pics need to be decided this week so that we can get them to the printer next week and I don't really have much time as it is so I can't gather pics and sort out voting.

Karen & Simon - you guys are doing a great job, I don't know how many folk have picked up my calender from my desk at work and commented on how good it is - they are even more impressed when I can tell them I know the person who owns the car in the photo.

I think you have done a fantastic job - well done an please don't stop.

Yes let's all cool the jets, the volunteers - on which this entire community is based, remember - are doing a fine job and whilst we try to run a democracy, no-one has any specific right to complain etc.

Lawrence posted a particularly diplomatic view. He's getting really good don't you think!

And overall, let's just use the comments posted around the calendar to help shape the future ones in a positive way. Would be such a shame to lose this wee treat - when SE started, a calendar was the last thing on our minds but when I look at mine (most days, obviously) I do feel proud to see that physical embodiment of our "club".

Simon, Karen - please don't give up on this next year, you have a long order book which should speak for itself and if you wanted to keep a few pence per calendar to treat you and your beloveds to a wee meal out after it's finished, I think that's justified reward for what you are putting in ;-)

Well put Campbell!

I am quite heavily involved in several motor sport clubs, and know how much effort goes into making anything happen.

Top effort guys!

Folk in my office don't believe me when I tell them it's my old car (RIP  ) in this month's calendar pic. They think I'm winding them up and that the calendar is something I've bought from Lotus directly!

Campbell, thanks for the comments. Fingers crossed that the calendar will be around in 2009 :D

Time to wade in :D

Seems like Simon & Dave took a fair chunk of their time to wade through the various flickr, photobucket and gallery posting to bring us a wide range to vote on. WELL DONE GUYS, THAT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A FUN JOB.

I can't see anything at all wrong with what they have done. If folk have photo's that they were "holding back" for the calendar, then shame on you - you should have shared them with SE at the time.

It's a huge task arranging anything like this - that's why the Christmas Raceland karting tends to get rotated.

Lawrence's suggestion for next year sounds spot on too!

3 cheers for Karen, Simon & Dave.
