Campbell, glad to hear you and the family are OK! Really can't understand the mentality of doing something like that when there's an above average chance of causing a nasty accident

Makes my blood boil. Just after reading about those guys on the Ford Focus forum as well. Makes you wonder what the world is coming to.

We need more discipline, I was talking about that recently with my dad, decided that national service would work wonders. My time in the RAF certainly changed my outlook on life...

Sorry to hear about your incident , fukcers, cut their hands off.

I was driving back from Edinburgh this evening with your story fresh in my mind. Just bimbling along come up to the Forte when a big rocket caught my eye and landed right in front of the car. My hearts stopped for a second as I waited for the big flash. F......u........c.........k.......

Luckily it was a dead one , I always wondered where they ended up .

Can't understand the mentality of some people these days. Do they never even think about what the consequences of their actions might be

It's a fact that young males do not automatically consider the consequences of their actions; it's some sort of hangover from when they were required to go into battle against rival tribes or something (where logic would dictate hiding is a better course of action than fighting, so logic is suppressed).

However, in days gone by, I am sure that the reason children generally did not commit life threatening acts of mindless violence and vandalism is because they were scared of being caught (not just by the police - by anybody - because in those days anyone could and would have waded in to discipline them).

So whilst I can sympathise with the return to harsh discipline enforced by the "system", without the backing of parents & community I believe that very little will be achieved.

Logically, the right course of action has to be to prevent those unfit to parent from reproducing. "Off with their goolies.", for those that remember Not The Nine'o'clock news.

That bridge has been bad for that since I was at Motorola in '97! Why there are no CCTV on the entrance and exits to those bridges I have no idea.

So glad no one was hurt.

I agree....and I remember that sketch (Mel Smith and Pam Stevenson being the experts agreeing on that course of action).

It's sad that the police don't have the resources to catch those who attempted to assault/murder Campbell.
If there had been a death or disfiguring injury from the action, then they would suddenly find the resources to catch the mouth breathing inbreds.
Seems daft not to put the effort in now to avoid a repeat of the incident which could end up in a death.

I've been 100% with this train of thought for a while now - been accused of showing Hitler tendencies before too, but if it gradually cuts out the shyte genepools then surely it's a good thing?

Hearty debate indeed. Thanks for all the good wishes.

Lisa is particularly in favour of a Parenting Test which results in neutering (sp) of anyone that fails

. I guess the best we can do is find ways to lobby the Government to put as much into parenting principles / skills as it does into defence budgets, ant-drink-drive campaigns, public transport schemes, roadbuilding etc. Only that way will we develop back towards the principles Robin alluded to.

Oh, and when the Government claims massive figures for how much it has poured into "Education", it needs to ask...

a) how the money has then been spent

b) how much of it should go on non-school-oriented education like the parenting skills stuff.

Good education begins at home when the wee tots are barely days old and actually never stops until Mum and Dad pop their clogs. That's the deal if you are considering - or risking! - having children, take it or leave it.

Anyway let's get on with enjoying life again if we can. What's that Latin nonsense about not letting the b*st*rds get you down etc.

Thats a terrible incident and speaking as an ex Livingston resident, one that I dreaded a couple of times when passing under the bridges.

It was this kind of mindless behavour that made us move out of the area - too many temptations and adults of dubious role model characteristics.
