Sounds like you and me should definately NOT hook up any time soon in our cars :D Like me, sounds like you love to show off your car, and the busier the place the better. I loving nothing more than to scream from zero to forty at a set of lights on Glasgow road (edi) as fast as possible. Maybury Road (edi) is fantastic too, but I have come to realise, too many people are watching and too many people can be unpredictable making our drving styles potentially deadly. Im not preaching, and if I am, its to myself too! Just reading this has made me realise that these cars CAN and often DO result in a complete change in attitude within a person. I get in the car and feel like superman, I feel better than everyone else, and I feel that if I can, I should push the car to what I perceive to be its limits, and make sure everyone around knows it!

I dont want slaughtered for posting how much of a twat I can be in the car. My excuse is I have only been driving for 6 months and as such, I have the whole "new kid with a car" as well as the "lotus factor" to contend with. My driving over the last month or two has improved dramatically, I am much more aware of my surroundings and the people who I can affect with my sometimes insane driving. I feel like I am learning at a seriously fast pace, and my respect for other road users whilst still on the short side, is growing.

For the record, I have been pulled 9 times in the Elise, and 3 in one night (said night ended in the grassmarket incident). That was 3 months ago, and I haven't been pulled since - proves I am getting better.
For future reference, if I organise another road run at any stage, neither yourself or J33ama will be welcome.

You might want to grow the f**k up before somebody dies.
Well you can stick your runs, I presume you too have done nothing dangerous in your car putting others at risk?

Exactly, sweeping things under the carpet gives the hand wringing lentilista more cause to whine over. Far better to able to discuss things in the open and encourage sensible driving.
Well you can count me out of being "open and honest" in future. Nothing worse than a self righteous prat who pretends he does nothing wrong, and is quick to preach to others. Should have kept my trap shut :)

meatball wrote:I appreciate the point you guys are trying to get across, but try to be constructive.......slapping them both will serve no purpose......they will just leave the forum and drive (their lotus) in whatever manner they like......

However, with advice like tuts we might change that.......maybe?

J33AMA and Gary should maybe read what they have written before posting!
Meatball, I would change nothing in my post. It's shows exactly what happens to young guys like myself in fast cars. I stated that I got it under control. I am not defending it, and I can't defend it. I am glad I said it though. I am an honest individual, and am happy to be open.

For the Self Righteous amongst you. How many people die on the rural roads every day due to excessive speeding? How many people here speed on the backroads?

Pot, Kettle, Black.

Gary.

That's a bit harsh! :(

As is banning folk from runs IMHO. Let's keep things on a positive note.
Dom, I seriously don't give a sh1t, but thanks for the effort. I have bigger things to worry about than what goes on at ScottishElises.com - I speak to Mr. Self Righteous every day at work, I bump into him in the supermarket. I see him on reality TV shows and hear him host Talk Radio Shows at bed time.

I am his exact opposite, and proud of it. I have weaknesses, and I am open about them.

Quite right to be honest though gary , Forums are about voicing your opinion after all , not telling constant lies to fit in with the "crowd"

I to tryd to be honest in my first post , not gonna bother next time . I'll stick to gearboxes and door panel screws ....and perhaps a few "was it yous" if I am feeling sneaky

I won't :) I got an earbashing before for "tooting" at a slow motorist (who was doing 30 in a 60 for over 3 miles). It was at that point I realised that a few of the posters were buddhist monks who bring nothing but peace and tranquility to our world, and "words of the wise" to c0cks like me!
