There's a big difference between deserted motorways and built up areas & if you ever come on an SE run, you'll note that we religiously slow down for the 30 signs

Just because you guys are slowing down for 30 means sh*t. Many have admitted to all sorts of speed on "rural" roads , still breaking the limit.

Breaking the law is breaking the law there aint no good way to do it . I got caught , you guys didnt . what puts anyone in the position to tell me i am in the wrong when they have commited the same offences ?

I could argue how dangerous it would be travelling at 90mph on a backroad , no doubt testing the lotus's grip to the max on corners when there will always be occasional traffic comming the opposite direction ?

now that could be fatal......

so effectively what some of you are saying is that you are really just better at breaking the law than I am ?
I agree with what you say above.... I knowingly break the law when I drive my car on the backroads. And yes you are right there is the possibility of a car on the wrong side of the road, or parked just after a blind bend etc etc.....

I think you have been tarred with the same brush as the nerd boy racers who put body kits on the Novas.. hence the reaction from some of us on here. I understand exactly how much fun it is to have a play, but have managed to resist temptation to show off where there are pedestrians.

One thing I will say about the road runs... I have noticed a worrying trend from some on here, new and experianced alike, to habitually cross the white line, even if they think it is clear ahead and can stick to there own side if they wanted to.. thats when you are going to get bitten. It only takes on car traveling at TUTspeed the other direction doing the same and were head on. I am not saying I have never done it, I just try not to... if I need to cross the line to keep up with the car in front, I'm going to fast in my opinion..

good point from j33ama above and I think we should acknowledge that.
John he's been constantly trying to revise and redirect this thread. It was about him driving in town, but he's managed to carefully divert it towards how we drive on runs.

Sorry John but the above is no different from anyone elses opinion, it's not fact. I cross the white line and believe I do it safely. You do not, fair enough we agree to differ.

As to back roads, add to your list tractors (with or without those exciting looking spikes where other vehicles have bumpers), sheep, cows (mate totalled his rally car hitting a cow cadaver on a back road run - long story), cyclists (often legitimately 2 abreast), horses (wild and being ridden sometimes 2 abreast), pedestrians (without the protection of a pavement), mud, truck coming opposite direction wider than half the road, other plant....

Do I need to go on.

We are all great drivers, all of us*, can we just end the thread there.

Pete

*Except you, and you over there lurking at the back, and you, yes you the elderly chap with the Honda, and you, and you with the Orange car, and definitely you with the Golf and all of you who have ever crashed, and you, and you.

J33 - Make as much fricken noise in whatever gear u want - its ur car..

Whether J33 was doing 35 in town or not who gives a sh!t what gear he was in? Would you have got on at him if he was in 3rd gear? 30mph was the limit J33 yeah??? So anyone who does get hit by him.. well... their fault IMHO - should have heard him coming

I do 35 all the time as 30 is too damn slow and I know my spedo is off as my tom tom and every other sat nav i've had in the car says so!!!

U speed - u get a fine or go to court, suck it in and be a man... No one forced u to do it....... & I'm sure from reading J33 and Gaz both would!

Speeding in town, country road, empty motorway etc etc blah blah blah blah is ALL the bloody same if you hit someone or something - ask ANY Policeman out there they will tell you the same thing...

I agree with ALL the advice that has been given - and totally right to give it 'cause its ur honest opinion - but damn straight they should go on the defensive and get on at you, as name calling and ganging up is bullying, and I HATE bullying.....

Give me an ear bashing as well I don't care 2bph... Rather stand up for a couple of good guys than sit back and listen to this sh!t - and I'm sure if ur man enough to call them c0cks etc on the comp then you'll surely do it when/if u next c them? As I'd snatch the life right out of u if u done it to me....

I'm 20 I drive like a tit sometimes and I admit it.. I get pulled by the police for doing it and then I moan about it.

Such is life.......

I am off to work on some Pelican and Puffin crossing road safety stuff for the kids at school.

I have recorded an Elise to add to all the other traffic noises I get them to recognise and will make sure they know it can appear very quickly, depending on who is driving it

Hope this thread finishes soon as I am so easily distracted from my studies
