The under side of the Elise is complete flat, helps with aerodynamics grip and all that malarky, if you have a panel missing it won't be doing it's job properly and more than likely have an effect on the handling.

So yes it's quiet important

The front undertray is required to support the clam. The rear undertray is optional below 100mph.

The front one really is a rectangle of alloy with the corners cut off and a few drill holes - possibly not that expensive from Lotus, actually.

Bigger problem will be why it's missing - either someone couldn't be ar$ed refitting or more likely they have sheared the bolts off in the rivnuts and couldn't figure out what to do next.

cheers,
Robin

It certainly wont be helping but might not be the sole cause... Might also have an adverse affect on the airflow through the radiators too.

If the front of the clam has been ripped out, you need to replace it with more GF - suggest a trip to Steve Walker's bodyshop if you don't happen to have the skillz yourself ...

Depending on how big the hole is, gaffer tape will do the job  ... after all, it will only meet another speed hump one day.
