Squeak when lifting off and slowing down

Post by dezzy » Sat Dec 08, 2007 2:17 am

For the past few weeks, I've been hearing a squeaking noise coming from the engine area in the Exige when I lift off the throttle to decelerate and slow down for junctions/roundabouts/etc. I'll lift off on the throttle and a moment later the squeaking creeps in and will continue even as I'm braking for the junction.

It's not consistent, but does happen regularly enough for me to be a little concerned. I'm not sure if I'm just hearing extra noises now because the Exige doesn't have as much soundproofing as the Elise did. It's not really loud, but is noticeable over general engine noise. I won't hear it if the stereo's up nice and loud.

Just wondering if it's nothing to worry about or if I should pop into MMC to get it checked out?

Cheers,
D

Get it in for a look at, if you continue to drive it with a known fault they might get funny with the warranty. You never know what they can read from their diagnostic recording data thingy...

New car, aint right, warranty, sorted...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Checked if it was water related by listening tonight (dry and cold). Still did it.

Will call MMC tomorrow, as I've got another couple of things to get checked out and my new (non-leaking!) roof should be on the way soon.
