Today I was pulled over by an unmarked blue 5 series as i was apparently doing 78 in a 50 zone! They then gave me a £60 fine and three points ! It was on the section of road heading eastbound just as you pass the M80 slip! Am I the only person who didnt know this was a 50 because everyone else ive spoke too seems to be aware! does anyone know if this is marked as such????
P.S my mrs passed me two minutes later and p!ssed herself as she apparently was doing 50

Just after the M80 slip the speed limit changes from 50mph to 60 mph, marked clearly by 60 Mph signs. The 50mph section will have small repeater signs. Its about 1 mile further eastwards before the motorway national speed limit signs.

I've seen quite a few people being pulled on the M8 west of the city centre recently. It's 50mph around there too. There's also the bit at the airport which has been changed to a 40mph limit. I am the only person in the entire world that goes through that at 40mph - everyone else just continues through it at 60 or 70mph. It's only a matter of time before they start pulling people there too.
Also saw the cops pulling people just near the roundabout at the top of Thornliebank last night.

All the unmarked cars I've seen on the M8 about Glasgow have been 5-series's so far.
40mph limit on a motorway..kinda defeats the purpose
Think I'll buy a horse instead.
Actually...that's a thought- can you get done for speeding on a horse?
Also know someone who got pulled for speeding on a (pedal) bike recently...

Same barstewards who did me yesterday on my way home, booked me for doing 47 on the slip road to M80 at the gas works, just before the 50 sign!!!!!
They said its the time of year for a crack down. They also said they'll cruize up and down between M8/M80 junc and the 1st roundabout on the M80, and in each pass, usually book 1 or 2 peeps.
47 FFS on a motorway slip road

....s'pose it was still technically a 30. I had never noticed that the 50 sign was a wee bit along the slip road, and not at the start of it.

I thought the whole point of a slip road was to increase your speed to facilitate joining the fast traffic..so a 30 limit makes little sense...confused

It's a long slip road
When they pulled me, I honestly did not know why, as I had been doing approx 30 tuts before the slip road, then approx 50 tuts along slip road and onto motorway.

i dont see how it is in public safety to enforce such a change over in speeds on that particular sliproad.
its not in a town.
its not a place where people would be walking.
there are plenty (and i mean plenty) of other places that they could be enforcing.
what a waste of public resources.
get the fcukers that speed at 50/60 tuts along the tech park.
or the loosers that speed at 40 tuts by the exit in muirhead by gourdie brae just so someone (me) doesnt get out in front of them.
NEVER seen a police man there once. not once.
lazy, easy pickings is what i read into the way things are approached atm.

Any idea why it is now a 40 zone ? I see they have narrowed the lanes , have they cocked up when they put the barriers in ?
