I must say, Iâ€™m deeply shocked and saddened by this news. I only met Lawrence once, at his house for a â€œSpanner â€˜nâ€™ Sponges.â€

Very sad news indeed.

I met Lawrence many times over the past 9 years or so, mostly at Knockhill, sprints, hillclimbs and various runs.

Always enthusiastic, incredibly helpful and very competitive on track.

He will be very sorely missed.

RIP Lawrence.

A sad, sad loss.
So well respected in the hill climb and sprint community.
I remember picking up some old Guyson sprint magazines at Kames, Lawrence's name was plastered through all of them!

and yes, thats me jammed in beside Lawrence in a single seat 7 way back in 02!

My heart goes out to the Hoy family.

such as shame, and still in disbelief to think that barely 3 months ago we were nipping through France, and he was happily out in the rain in the RLC spinning off the track at Lucy Lervais - one of my fav memories of him was when he returned and the smile on his face when i greeted him at the pitlane afterwards!

His patience, kindness, knowledge and enthuasiasm shone through.

He was kind enough to help me with my 111r problems, the first time i met him, and i was instantly taken under his wing, and taught about the various components that we concluded must be causing the issue, with such patience and an exceptional ability to teach.

I believe that time is often the most valuable things someone can give you and Lawrence gave a lot of time to a lot of people. He was a true gent and a friend, and went out of his way to help.

He helped with the RLC corner weighting, cut the lead for the ballast, and travelled all the way to Oulton to support me and Neil and chat to me about strategy and tactics in my first race, offer encouragement and support. It meant, and still does, an awful lot to me. (5/600 miles just for the day!)

The joy he had when I popped round to see him with the Atom was evident. He was so excited he'd called round some friends as well! I just wish he'd been well enough to take it for a spin.

What a great friend - sadly sadly missed. My thoughts are with Katrina and his family.

I was saddened to hear the news, made all the worse by the sobering
inevitability of it over the last couple of months. My thoughts and
deepest sympathy are with Katrina and Lawrence's family and close
friends.

He will be remembered very fondly indeed for fun times at the
trackside and on the fabulous north-west campaganzas. His knowledge, encouragement and inspirational example have led a few from here to find their way into motorsport, and many more of us have benefited from his help, advice, friendship and seemingly endless generosity of spannering time.

I won't be able to make the funeral, but I'll be there in spirit. Definitely one of those great people I feel better for having known.

A very sad time indeed.

Rest in peace, Lawrence.

This is incredibly sad news.

Some very moving tributes here guys. Judging by the comments a fair few knew him very well, and although I did not know him that well, his character always made me feel like he knew me well. (if that makes sense.?)

He will be sorely missed and my thoughts are with his wife Katrina and his family.

Truly a great man, dedicated to helping others.

Sadly missed but never forgotten.

I am afraid I canâ€™t make the funeral on Friday, but please pass on my heartfelt condolences to Katrina & family.

If it were not for Lawrence Supersnot would not be here today. I remember it like yesterday the journey down to Caterham, 1st to spec the car and then to pick it up. Iâ€™m sure Lawrence was as excited as I was at getting the car. Who else would take such time out to help someone fulfil their dreams.

Gutted

Sadly i won't be able to make the service as Helens mum passed away also last week and the funeral for her is also Friday and i am even so torn between standing by her or paying my respects to Obi. So its a very sad time for me.

If it wasn't for him and his enthusiasm i probably wouldn't have the banana and i certainly would of not met the SE crowd.

But we shall continue his spirit and his passion.

We will continue to have trackdays

We will continue to compete in anything on wheels be it autotest, sprints, hills or racing.

On those occasions when we can't be arsed due to weather or hang overs just remember Lawrence's laughs and smile and go out there and do it.
