Welcome along mate. If you're out in East Lothian, Neil P can give you a look at his s160 - careful though, its gorgeous and you'll end up wanting one! Tom P is in North Berwick and always happy to chat about the Elise, and I can pop out if the weather's nice.. I do like that coastal road :)

ceejam wrote:Hi Baggy, mine is an FRA shell, 2nd or 3rd last one to be produced before the moulds were sold on. I don't know if the new owner has made any!

I've had the shell 3 years, and taken a lot of fettling to get to where it is! Simple things like fitting the pedal box took something like 3 hours of; measuring, cutting, welding, trial fitting, repeat ad nauseum!!

Really should get on and build the Mini before buying a Lettuce and Cheese, but that would be boring and sensible, wouldn't it?
Aye his was an early one too (he bought it second hand).

He had a lot of grief hanging the doors cos the a posts weren't all that beefy. if I remember, he lightened the doors quite a bit.
he also beefed up the a pillar by cutting the bonnet in the shape of the original mini and bonding/bolting the little triangle in place just in front of the door. Bugger of a job.

He also fitted a full roll cage just to beef it up a bit.

Could put you in touch if you want.

I've got inner A panels that are quite beefy, but there's still a bit of give them. Next job is getting the front end all a bit more solid ;)

If you can pass him my email to send me any pics that would be good. Got most of it figured out, but would be nice to see someone else's interpretation!

Cheers

hehe, yeah - they are my cousins. You know them? Andy is currently fixing up the Mini in his spare time.
