Walshy days (2) in feb/march???

I'm doing the Walshy day (x2) with him and am just waiting for him to figure out when !

Before the end of March would be good for me so I can use up the rest of my holidays.

Excellent Jinty, you will love it. It is amazing just how much fun you can have going around corners at maximum tuts and learning what the limits of both you and your car really are. Have fun.

And just to finish it off Walshy is a great guy.

Is it possible to car share on these days, or are all cars out on track at the same time?

Car sharing is possible.

On a 4-person day it would be more practical if there were two other people you knew 'cos you could be in one of their cars while your car was busy. On a 2-person day you'll spend some time hanging about on the tarmac - better hope the weather's OK

Basically what happens is that during the morning you'll do some basics which happens 1 on 1 with Andrew using the bottom half of his area. Meanwhile the rest of the people stand about and talk sh*t and one person at a time uses a couple of cones for steering practice.

After that you do the fast run stuff which involves all cars trundling down a slip road to a holding pen, then one by one you run back up the slip road at speed (anywhere between 50 to however fast your car and bottle can go). At the end of the slip road you turn left using different techniques and end up spinning a lot. Either way there's an assembly area that all the cars return to; when the last car has done its run you all trundle off again down the slip road. So in one car you end up swapping drivers for every other run, but you'll do fewer runs than the other drivers.

Then during the afternoon there is an autotest style course set out and you each do several runs on it against the clock - a bit of competition helps focus the mind

This works fine with car sharing because only one car is out on the course at a time, and Andrew encourages "peer review" by putting in other drivers as passengers in each car.

You might practice some other techniques at the same time (proper steering; proper braking; left foot braking; using the brakes to help steer the car).

So I would advise against sharing because you'll end up doing about 2/3rds the high speed runs on a 4-person day and on a 2-person day you might get cold, wet and bored hanging about on the tarmac - otherwise it's OK though, so if it's your only choice, don't be put off.

Really keen to do another Walshy day. The one I did in March last year with Ross, Craig and Scott was fantastic. But I need to watch the cash with the impending mortgage so I think I'll need to rule it out for the next few months and re-assess the cash situation maybe nearer the summer.

You will have a fantastic time and it's worth every penny!

I quite fancy doing another session with Walshy now that I have the Caterham - it's just a huge distance to drive down with no heater/windscreen etc.

I don't like to trailer it - 50mph is soooo slow and anything above makes the trailer wag the car

Hi all...

It has now been passed to me to look into booking accommodation for our trip down south to do the Walshy days.

Can anyone recommend places to stay from past experience?
It looks like we will be travelling down on the Sunday and staying until the Wednesday (I think).

All advice and recommendations welcome.

As Robin says.

I did it with an Atom though and it was a good laugh, but all 4 of us were good mates and had shots of each others cars. (atom 160, and imposter (sorry VX220) turbo and an RX7)

The 2 person day i did with McApe was awesome, as we each had a car and 50% of the time with Walshy, when Ape stopped flirting with him

Jinty stay at the Quality Inn in Epping its 5 minutes from the airfield, great breakfast and very reasonable. Its also a 5 minute walk from the bars and restaurants in Epping.

We both want to do it, and it seems a long way to go for only one of us to do the day and then have to go back. I'm seasoned at getting wet and cold so hanging about is not a problem (not so sure she is

), but I wouldn't want either of us to miss time in the car that we should have.

you can hire one of walshy's elise's so you have one each and both get the full training. He has a K series S2 and a toyota S2
